Villain is 79.1/23.9/2.37 total donk and pretty laggy post flop, but his bet size is an indication of strength for the most part (the bigger the stronger so far, but only seen 60 hands).

Whether I won is not the point, I do know I butchered this hand. I'm taking some beats, trying to break into a new level, and trying to incorporate some new concepts into my game and it's all throwing me off somewhat. If someone could puppy walk me through their basic thought processes as if they were playing this hand they'd be my favorite person. I know one hand is not going to teach me how to play poker, it's just that I'm struggling to get to grips with the basic deduction frame-work a good player should use each hand, and on each street.

Alright i'll give it a go

Preflop: this is usually a fold, or a 3bet if villain is opening a lot of buttons. I would suggest a fold because playing this hand in a 3bet pot is tough. Calling is probably the worst option, because you are going to have to c/f a lot of flops, or call down in very very marginal situations.

Flop: great flop for you. You likly have 12 clean outs. My default is to check raise here, as most opponents c-bet far too much and you get an extra bet from that alone. Secondly a c/r gets a lot more fold equity. If you get called you have a high chance of hitting your draw aswell, so no biggie. You lead and get called. I would put villain on a flush draw, straight draw or a ten or a 7.

Edit: just reread description of villain and since he is so donkinsh c/c flop might be better.

Double Edit: just reread stacks and with 200BB's a c/r is better.

Turn: after leading flop, I would never check this turn. I would bet it, they will never give you credit for a flush after you lead flop, especially at these stakes. It looks pretty transparent but I would check raise after he stabs at the pot. You have to set the pot up so you can get all in on the river, and the only way to do that right now is raising. YOU WANT TO PLAY FOR STACKS

River: shitty river card, probably fold now

What I'm trying to get to grips with is the mental process. Is everything you just said to me going through your head when you play this hand? Or are you sort of on auto? Not exactly not thinking, but not exactly talking to yourself internally either. Are you naming hands in your head, or are you just thinking "Hm, medium laggy range here, his bet makes no sense with that board, better raise" (or whatever the situation is)?

I don't normal call preflop, but we're pretty deep. Still a mistake?

I always do that when I bet my draw and it turns, I've been wondering what kind of leak/loss of value it is. I bet flop, get called, draw turns, I check, if I'm OOP and they don't bet I lead the river, if in position hopefully they try and float river a bit, and I get to raise, otherwise if they check river I bet, and hopefully they've forgotten about that scary turn with their TPWK. V. Bad line?

yeah fold or 3bet pre, I probably fold. Playin gweak suited connectors out of position is tough, however against a guy this fishy and this deep I can support a call.

Flop. You need to c/r to build a pot. This is a great flop but we're 200BB deep and we need to make the pot big enough to stack him when we hit.

Turn. You hit your draw so pile the money in as fast as possible. Your 200BB deep you dont have time to screw around.

If you'd c/r flop th epot would be about 14 on the turn and you could bet/call for full pot. Instead you got 2.85 in with the nuts.'

River: This river sucks obv, prob a fold.

Points taken guys, much appreciated. Sick thing is I already knew this stuff (turn especially). I've just been playing bad, and when you're playing bad you forget what playing good is until someone else comes along and reminds you. Thanks.

Results: I called on the river, he showed down AKo with the king of hearts. Buh.
