Ok well this is probably pretty terrible and you're all going to hate it but I figured I'd post just to make sure since I thought it was a good play when I made it.

Villain is MrPaddington, 17/14, cb 53% over 637 hands, relevant note: "nit who can make laydowns"

Ok so first I c/r the flop because I didn't think I could c/c profitably against such a tight utg range since he's going to suckout/barrel often on over cards if he doesn't already have me beat and it's still a difficult spot to c/c down without over cards falling. Maybe leading is best?

After he calls his range is probably just overpairs and sets, I check planning on c/f. He checks behind. His range now is just 99-AA, maybe 77/88. I check the river again expecting him to vbet all overpairs. I don't think betting here is good since he's calling every time with everything that beats me. Now I don't think I can call, so the decision is between folding and raising as a bluff. I thought since his range was so obvious, he knew his range was obvious, he probably knew that I knew his range was obvious, and he probably knows that I expect him to vbet the river coupled with the fact that he probably doesn't think I expect him to fold made shoving as a bluff a decent play.

What do you guys think?

Since he's a nit and won't play scare cards as aggressively as some tags will...you can profitably c/c flop with the knowledge that he's probably only barreling overpairs/sets on the turn. In which case c/c flop and c/f turns can be okay against this guy.

c/r this flop is really bad against this player and u should know why....he's not calling with anything worse, and hes folding better. Riv is difficult to represent much....since your flopped sets bet turn and u prolly barrel a picked up backdoor FD. And 6x just wouldn't make any sense.....just c/f.

I dont like the c/r flop I call flop fold decent turn bet. as played i would have just called river.

C/r flop is really bad.

River i suppose is alright, looks like opp has an overpair and the board looks scary, but I'm doubting you ever actually have a nut hand here.

Ok yeah I knew c/r flop was bad, at the time I was tilting slightly because turns and rivers had been horrible for me (overcards, flush/straight cards coming when I had made hands). Not an excuse I need to control this sort of thing.

You're totally right that I never have a nut hand here, I just didn't think this guy had both the skill to know this and the courage to follow through. Even still I suppose I can find much better spots to bluff against guys like this.

I agree w/ all the advice given. I hate the flop, but like the logic for the play on the river.

I love running big bluffs on these guys because you can get them to fold such strong hands. This guy would highly likely fold AA here. He's probably not even a good enough hand reader to know you almost never have diamonds but will likely be deathly afraid of them.
