Villain is a 25/20 TAG. first time playing with him tonight, so no reads. hasn't shown down anything. i haven't shown down anything either since he sat down.

Not sure if there is a better line i can take here. I have about 50% equity versus a reasonable range for villain, but feel like i have to fold a ton of turns. just fold to flop raise?

I'd give him a mulligan and just fold to his flop raise.
If I feel like being stubborn I'd give it up on the turn.

This is also a fun spot to check the flop.

Your hand has serious equity, but it also has some serious RIO problems.

I guess it comes down to is he fucking with you often enough to want to play a big pot here. If you decide to pull the trigger, your line is fine.

i also much prefer shoving or 3-bet-calling flop since you're oop

We beat bluffs and draws that miss. Why the rush?

I check/call the flop a decent amount. I would probably fold to the flop raise. You aren't getting paid enough, tainted outs, etc.

cuz most ppl aren't sick enough to check-shove a turn like that, imo hero's turn play makes up for what seems to be an iffy flop peel

We won't be able to extract much value when we do hit, but figure to have something like 35-40% equity vs villain's flop shove-calling range. Add that to the times we get him to fold better hands (shit like 8x and 9x looking to just take down the pot) and to the times we get him to fold bluffs and I think we have a winner... without even taking into account the metagame stuff.

also villain will be able to own us pretty hard in position with his semi-bluffs that have a bunch of outs since :

-lots of the time he'll get to check it back when the turn gives him a slightly stronger hand (yay for a free card for us but most rivers will have us in a shitty spot)

-if the above-mentioned scenario unfolds, it's very tough for us to rep anything credible if we want to push him off a hand like QJss that hits a J on the turn, 9T when a K hits the turn, etc.

The thing that really makes this feel like a shit-or-get-off-the-pot flop is that nearly his entire bluffing range (unless he's a tough enough player to raise this flop with 33) has overcards on us that he'll get to peel for free to take down a pretty sizeable pot.

If we were in position I'd call vs most reasonable opponents all day.

tainted outs don't seem such a big deal to me

i guess there's the flushdraw which is lame but I think that's all the more reason to get it in on the flop

we're in brutal shape vs 7T and 57, both of which are kind of irrelevant because of our hand

he have a spade blocker for overs and FD, we have 2 juicy straight blockers vs a hand like JT and we have a T blocker, giving a hand like QTss fewer outs to hit on us.

shove flop!

since it's 8 am and I haven't slept yet, might as well clutter this thread questioning myself :

i misread OP and thought the bottom card on the board wasn't a spade. this has big implications since it means we're not crushed by nearly as much of his shove-calling range.

i can see just folding this flop since 9xss has us in terrible shape, esp the dreaded 9Tss monster.

if you change the non-spade to the 6 or the 5, I'm all in pretty much always on this flop.
