I think given time to consider, I'd say fold here, but this sort of thing is a huge leak in my game. I find it really hard to get away from hands like this, and so call, then curse my luck that he had the only card that could beat me.

You've only put $16 in, and its better to take that loss and wait for a better spot, than to drop the full buy-in. If you're lucky, he'll show his JJ or AJ, and you can continue playing, feeling like you're $35 up, rather than $16 down.

seems pretty standard. I think you should normally fold here, but I won't say that I never look someone up here. I think most players normally have the J here though.
