Hero lost -$34

Is this just a horrible play? bare in mind my read was that I needed him to fold to win so checking the river for a showdown wasn't an option. My image at this point was pretty maniacal so attempting this was risky but is there a better way to get him to throw this hand down?

Hero checks,

In this hand my read was that I was going to be outkicked in a showdown. So I tried to get him to lay it down with a check raise on the turn. He thought about it for awhile. I didn't even consider betting the river. Should I have? Is this a profitable move? He was fairly tight for the most part. I don't think I had been caught making any moves to this point.

HAND 9

$0.25/$0.5 No Limit Holdem
5 players
Converted at weaktight.com

Stacks:
UTG Taalari ($64.43)
CO skele701 ($94.68)
BTN Prayforyou ($53.33)
SB Hero ($144.13)
BB suckmebaby ($57.57)

Pre-flop: ($0.75, 5 players) Hero is SB
3 folds, Hero calls $0.25, suckmebaby checks

Flop: ($1, 2 players)
Hero checks, suckmebaby bets $1, Hero calls $1

Turn: ($3, 2 players)
Hero checks, suckmebaby bets $3, Hero calls $3

River: ($9, 2 players)
Hero bets $4.50, suckmebaby raises to $16.50, Hero folds

Final Pot: $30

suckmebaby wins $29.10 ( won +$8.10 )
Hero lost -$9

This was just plain stupid on my part I think. I bet on the river to induce a bluff but then became scared. Is this a bad fold? Was he raising because it looked like I wanted a cheap showdown?

Its hard to properly analyse these without any reads/stats on villains, but here goes.

Hand 1 (7): This is horrible. By betting less than half pot you're inviting him to call you down with middle pair or better, and because you're doing it with such a weak hand yourself you're making it +EV for him to do so. Subject to any read you had on him, did you really expect a flop raiser to fold to such small turn and river bets?

Hand 2 (8): I don't like preflop - raise or fold. Post-flop, you've turned your hand into a bluff, which is probably OK given villain is tight and you're probably behind once he bets the turn and definitely behind once he calls the raise. Now your float/delayed cbet hasn't worked, it depends on whether you think he's likely to lay down to a big river bet. I'd say unlikely on what I can see.

Hand 3 (9): Again we have no reads on villain, but he's checked his BB and then bet pot on the flop and turn. Unless you have a read that he's a maniac, I think it looks most like AJ, a set, a draw, or possibly AA-QQ slowplayed preflop. Given that, I can't quite understand calling the turn - surely raise/fold is the better play? If he has a draw you're likely to scare him off, whereas a big made hand will call or 3bet and then you know you're dead.

And by calling, what are you expecting to happen on the river? Surely the J was about the best card you could have hoped for, and you must have anticipated that he would raise if you donked. I just think that if you're going to call that turn then fold when a J comes, you're just spewing money.

66- pure spew, fold to flopraise. his range is strong and inproved on turn, your sizing is right in his comfort zone to call down, if u want to spew, go for 17 on turn

A4s- raise or fold preflop, open limping lets u oop without initiave vs a range that has ur tp dominated. Flop could go either way, calling is prob thin when ur not closing the action and hold TPNK no draw on an aggro board. As played turn isnt bad, now c/f river

J9o- Raise or fold pre. Completing the SB heads up is like making the BB a present of .5BB each time u do it. I like your line postflop.
