 I am giving short handed holdem a try. Basically, I understand that variance happens, but I have no way of knowing if I am long-term winner? How many of you had rough starts? And am I just over playing my hands. It seems I slowly build my stack to 35-50, and then lose it one big swing. A few hands to demonstrate. How much do I need to lose before I know I am losing player? Or is that the wrong attitude? Thank you for your input. All of these are played on PP and I also include my brief PT stats:
V&IP=24/14 (3.3K hands, tiny sample size)
FYI my current Bank roll is at 389, started at 575 ( Initial deposit 500+ 75 bonus). Also I have no idea about reads, I am not that good yet.

I included the result of the last hand because I do not believe it will alter the discussion. From looking over these and others it really looks like I just get trapped, how do I learn when to slow down.

1. Scary flop. MP1 cold calling raise is scary too.

2. Don't raise flop, you chase out all the hands you beat. TPTK is a good hand but not one that you want to bloat the pot with.

3. Villians line is very odd for hands that beat you now. AKh maybe? I probably fold and keep an eye on him. I don't want to risk two stacks here.

4. Raise more preflop. Bet turn. Check/Call river unless he's a known fish.

5. No c-bet? Don't raise the river, worse hands probably fold, better hands call.

Hand 1: seems fine to me. If I knew the UTG raiser (and/or MP) was tight, I might dump this on the flop after his reraise and the coldcall.

hand 2: fold the turn. Mostly I would just call the flop and bet turn if checked to.

hand 3: Fold flop. Please fold it. Dont play for stacks on the flop with an overpair without reads and you NEVER do it 200BB deep.

hand 4: Raise to 1 prf. A good general rule of thump is to raise 3.5xBB+1 pr. limper (make it 4xBB+1prlimper when playing as low as NL25). Bet more on the flop, lead turn and look to get it allin somewhere in between without betting so big that you chase opp out. I checkcall river to lose the least against a full house and to give busted draws an opportunity to take a stab at the pot.

Hand 5: Bet the flop (unless you've been caught cbetting a lot lately). Call on turn is fine. The river is tricky and depends on your opponent. Against certain opps I just call river, against fish that I know play weak aces I make a valueraise like you did (make it at least 10 to go though)
