-UTG is a pretty aggro regular, who runs 26/20ish. I have been 3-betting him on quite a few tables and he's been calling a lot of the 3-bets. I even 4-bet him a couple times from the BB when he squeezed the button from SB, and he called OOP and c/f both flops.
-CO is a nitty reg who I've been getting involved with quite a bit the last few sessions. I have been 3-betting him very very lightly this session on other tables in position. I 3-bet his UTG raise once from UTG+1 with some nonsense suited Q hand that he saw at showdown. He probably thinks I'm 3-betting here light hence his cold call
-I'm sure both players know I am capable of bluffing in this spot and would expect me to shove this A if I had air here, though in all honesty I probably rarely bluff against a cold caller on the flop, especially such a nit

You like it cause you're not folding if you're UTG, or cause you're calling all river bets anyhow if you check through?

What I mean is that I wouldn't fold an overpair if I would be the UTG raiser and I wouldn't, if I would be, be folding if UTG shoves river if you check the turn.

My reply was based on your great analysis of previous history with UTG.

I like a check behind because I think he'll auto-shove the river.

ace seems like a pretty meaningless card to me ; more of an action-killer than anything
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

I disagree. I feel his range is predominantly sevens through kings and he'll be looking for cheap showdown. If you check here and shove the river when checked to you look so much like AK so I like to shove here where our range is widest.

This is exactly what I thought. That a check when the A comes and betting on river looks much more like an AK/AQ type hand than a shove when the A comes.

I think if i checked through this turn, that villain would assume that my hand had some showdown value (since I chose not to bluff this card) and probably wouldn't bluff this river.

I agree with griffey and Irisheyes on this one. I think he's more likely to make a hero call with the weak part of his range if we bet the ace. Since he knows you 3 bet light your hand looks a lot like a draw or a small pair that you have turned into a bluff.
