Is my play optimal on the turn.. why or why not? Villains unknown, but are aggressive and like to make moves.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 max, 5 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is BB with 5, J. SB posts a blind of $2.

Flop: ($16) 9, J, 2 (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $13, UTG calls $13, MP calls $13, SB folds.

Turn: ($55) 2 (3 players)
Hero bets $40, UTG folds, MP folds.

Final Pot: $95

the turn is good, id pot it but i play on the very aggressive side. on the other hand, i think the flop bet is pretty loose, i assume you are folding if you get re-raised? i usually view these sort of hands as hands i get in trouble with and dont really key off on top pair like that. i think i check/fold the flop and pot the turn if everyone checks behind. i mean you did say the other players are making moves.

i think im saying check that flop here because if i have diamonds and see the BB lead out like that, i raise 4-5x.
