Villain is a decent regular, 19/16/2.6 over a lot of hands. We haven't tangled too much, but he's 3-bet me a fair amount in this session, a few times at this table and a couple more at another. I don't think I've called or 4-bet yet. I'm sure he knows that I have a wide button raising range.

Mandatory flop raise? I was thinking I'd get more value if I flat-called and turn bricked, and save money if turn hit he had a hand like AxKs/AxQs, maybe KsKx. Fold turn? Fold river? Yuck.

Ok, talk to me. I flat call AA/AK in position here a lot, so I figure a call is better than a 4-bet. Whether it's better than a fold is another issue, but I felt this guy was 3-betting me often enough that I wanted to see a flop 125bb deep.

I don't mind the preflop call, I'd like to hear Sauce's reasoning for this. But how can you not raise that flop? Also, as played, calling that turn is really bad.

Obviously in retrospect I don't like my play, but at the time I was thinking that he's only c-betting that flop with AA/TT/AK/AQ/AJ/KxKs and maybe QxQs. I'm way ahead of AK/AQ/AJ no spade, way behind AA/TT, slightly behind AKs/AQs/AJs and slightly ahead of KxKs/QxQs. I figured AK/AQ/AJ no spade made up the majority of his range, I wanted to maximize value against those and rep a spade draw. I figured a big raise or push would fold everything I was ahead of and only get calls from hands I'm way or slightly behind. I also thought I could get away if a 4th spade hit the turn.

I agree that I should raised the flop. But that's what I was thinking.

Raise the flop becaise even KK-JJ havae a draw half the time and AK-AJ felt alot. And because we're not folding here.

The turn he'd have to be bluffing a made hand so wtf r u doing.
this has been said but maybe my two cents help.

Flop raise might actually take down the pot here, as villian is more likely to put you on spades than 2pair if you raise that flop after it was 3bet preflop. I guess you aren't getting any high spade in the hole to fold. I still think repping a hand like QsJs, 7s8s, 8s9s, isn't the worst thing you could do.

Do you guys like a lead when the 4th spade hits? You're guaranteeing a fold if villian is not holding a spade.
