Reads would help a lot in this one.
The problem is if you call turn, the pot will be so big that you'll be almost sure that you will end allin on the river, and that kinda sucks with TKGK against an unknown. I probably fold this, but it feels kinda weak.

Btw, I mostly check behind on the turn with no obvious draws out there

pot odds?

pot is $32 with 7 to call. Id call here pushing a flush river and probably calling a river bet with tp anyway. Too many party fish want to raise here on a bluff. I just cant see them playing it this fast.

I think a check behind is the best play on this turn almost exactly because of something like this. Also, given the effective stack size our opponent is going to have less than a 1/2 pot bet left on the river, are we going to fold with TPGK when he pushes?

As played I would call and fold if I dont hit a club [assuming he bets]. Reads on this villain would help though.

Pot odds is of course an issue here, because you are getting great pot odds. But I fold because: 1) with that big a pot we will probably end all in on the river and I dont want that with such an marginal hand, and 2) turn check-min-raises in this spot is very rarely a bluff (in fact I always expect to see a hand that beats TP in this spot).

And like I said earlier, checking the turn in this specific hand is the most optimal play.

nope. I don't think he has a 3 here often though. If he did he would play it like this.

I dont follow the reasoning for a check behind.

Yes, if we get checkraised we have a bad hand that we wont be able to let go of that can again make a much better but still possibly 2nd best hand.

But if the HH was just SB c/cs and checks the turn as we pick up a flush draw but 2nd pair pairs, why not bet based on the increasing value of our hand?

Is the fear of this guy having made his 3 better enough to outweigh just sneaking in some more money vrs whatever else is calling on the flop?

Smithers, use the amnesia ray.
You mean the revolver, sir?
Precisely.
