Just getting into 6-max...I'm pretty sure I played this one correctly, may have gotten a little more out of it, who knows?

Should I have played this differently? Yes/no?

***** Hand History for Game 3443071712 *****
$100 NL Texas Hold'em - Thursday, January 26, 22:04:53 EDT 2006
Table Table 72650 (6 max) (No DP) (Real Money)
Seat 3 is the button
Total number of players : 6
Seat 1: Yaweh01 ( $53 )
Seat 2: AAbeatsUU ( $99.50 )
Seat 3: PaulBearer_ ( $292.60 )
Seat 4: clydem111 ( $159.61 )
Seat 5: UltimateGW ( $146.89 )
Seat 6: kipster_2008 ( $80.31 )
clydem111 posts small blind [$0.50].
UltimateGW posts big blind [$1].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to UltimateGW [ Ah Th ]
kipster_2008 calls [$1].
Yaweh01 calls [$1].
AAbeatsUU folds.
PaulBearer_ folds.
clydem111 folds.
UltimateGW checks.
** Dealing Flop ** [ 7s, As, 9s ]
>You have options at Table 65037 (6 max) (No DP) Table!.
UltimateGW bets [$3].
kipster_2008 calls [$3].
Yaweh01 folds.
Bigger ace is doubtful here, but maybe a flopped flush?
** Dealing Turn ** [ 5c ]
UltimateGW checks.
kipster_2008 bets [$3].
UltimateGW calls [$3].
If I can see this cheap that would be cool.
** Dealing River ** [ Tc ]
UltimateGW checks.
kipster_2008 bets [$8].
UltimateGW calls [$8].
Okay, I hit my 2-pair...unless I'm up against a flush I win (no chance he has a set with the way he played it). I call, but I don't re-raise because only a bigger hand will call/push on me, right?
kipster_2008 shows [ Jd, Qs ] high card ace.
UltimateGW shows [ Ah, Th ] two pairs, aces and tens.
UltimateGW wins $29.95 from the main pot with two pairs, aces and tens.

Looking at it, it's pretty standard...What do you think?

depending on what i think of opponent, i sometimes bet the turn. other than that, i check call that river everytime because the big spades that whiffed always try to take it down.

His turn play makes a flush draw seem unlikely. He probably has an ace or a flush (an ace being more likely), and you risk him checking behind with an ace by checking the river. I'd make a reasonable bet on the river and fold to a raise. This line (bet, check-call, bet), looks like a semi-bluff and river bluff, so he'll probably be fairly liberal with his calls.

Either bet turn, check/call river OR
CR turn OR
check-call turn, lead river

yesterday I had some hands like this, an example:
KJ on BB, CO limps, SB completes, I check

flop K95 two tone, I bet 2/3 CO calls SB folds
turn some shit, I bet about the same CO calls
river some shit, I check, he thinks for 3 secs and bets 1/2 pot, I insta-call, CO had some shit and was on a flush draw. Happened at least twice yesterday. I think this is a really simple but yet so misunderstood concept here. Dnuts played similar hand well: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...ic.php?t=27597

dont be like the guy from gauntlet after I checked the river with a boat when I was pretty sure villain didnt have anything, villain checks and the guy goes "why didnt you bet" me "I thought he didnt have anything" him "you should bet then" err...

Is what we are after a cheap show-down? The first and third line look towards that end and i like them. C/R turn looks expensive tho, or am i missing something? is there a river plan in case the ten doesnt fall. Also I presume in the first instance you are bet/folding the turn?

w/o a read re-raise on turn and I am out.
turn CR is expensive but also most effective. drops off many hands that otherwise would be calling our bet.
check-call on turn suggests a draw, now the flush draw doesnt come and we have top 2. Time to value bet, an A will call, also fold to re-raise. W/o T on river it gets trickier but I still bet river to get value from hands that would fold otherwise, depends on how turn went.

I'm not into that whole "block betting" thang.... maybe I need to learn.

If I'm not sure by the river about my hand and I'm out of position then I will just bet 1-2BB into the pot and let my opponent decide what to do.

I'll decided THEN whether I think it's prudent to make that call.

If the pot is 50, and "I block bet"---I'm basically LOSING money if he raises and I decide to call. If I bet small, and then call HIS bet---it'll probably cost me the same or a little bit more, than if I block bet and call his raise.

Sets up nicely for inducing bluffs as well.... happens all the time.

Ah well.....

****** OH YEAH... forgot to mention...... RAISE this hand [even from the BB]

Atleast to $3 Preflop...

I think this is more true in limit games, where you can't get c/r all-in or raised more than 1 bet.

Isn't that a by definition a blocking bet?

Why? You allow yourself to win money against an ace that would otherwise check behind. It's not like you know he was on a draw.

this line looks more like a flushdraw to me than an ace
