Ran pretty well in my first week of playing SHNL, but these two hands kind of woke me up last night.

Hand 1: Villian is 51/5/3 over 50 hands. I'm not used to getting C/R much on the flop but usually it's BS- someone thinking I'm bluffing and they're trying to bluff me. When he leads the flop I figure KQ, maybe suited. Should I be calling here? Can I get away on a non-3 diamond board? I figure a set waits for the turn to make a move.

Stack sizes:
Hero: $11.65
CO: $19.45
Button: $3.70
SB: $24.80
BB: $6.80

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is UTG with K A
Hero raises to $0.4, 2 folds, SB calls, BB folds.

Flop: K 2 7 ($0.9, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.6, SB raises to $1.2, Hero calls.

Turn: 4 ($3.3, 2 players)
SB bets $3.3, Hero raises all-in $10.05, SB calls.

River: T ($23.4, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $23.4)

Results:
Final pot: $23.4

Hand 2: This is just terrible, but brings up an obvious problem I have- I'm lost playing draws OOP, especially HU. Should I be playing these type of hands way more passively? Is the flop an obvious fold? Villian is typical "I play every other hand", 10 PFR, 2 AF. Should I not bother against calling stations when I very likely have no FE if they've hit any piece of the board? Any draw advice, I'm lost?

Stack sizes:
UTG: $3.40
CO: $13.90
Button: $20.05
SB: $12.05
Hero: $10

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is BB with J 2
2 folds, Button calls, SB folds, Hero checks.

Flop: 3 5 4 ($0.25, 2 players)
Hero checks, Button bets $0.25, Hero raises to $1, Button calls.

Turn: 2 ($2.25, 2 players)
Hero bets $3, Button raises to $11.25

Given how aggressive your opponent is in hand 1 you played it fine. You could also push the flop but waiting to see a blank turn isn't bad even though him having a flush draw isn't likely.

Hand 2 is really bad. Why are you check/raising the flop with a weak draw. Lead with it instead. Why are you overbetting the pot on the turn? Leading for $1.75 does the same thing.

I hope that you wouldn't play a multiway pot like this because you'd only have 6 clean outs, you're not going to be compfy with 3 of those outs because you make the ass end of the straight and unless you're getting very good odds you should c/f because an ace may very well be an action killing card as well as people realizing you're in the BB and could easily have the straight.

edit: i didn't see the preface to the second hand...

You should lead the flop HU. You should fold now that he bet.
