Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (2 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)
BB ($371)
Hero ($557)
Preflop: Hero is Button with 8 , 4 . Hero posts a blind of $4.
BB raises to $12, Hero (poster) calls $10.
Flop: ($28) 2 , 8 , 7 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $20, BB raises to $60, Hero calls $40.
Turn: ($148) 9 (2 players)
BB bets $105, Hero raises $483 (All-In)
Final Pot: $736
Heres the preamble: Villain is a standard 18/9 full ring tag regular who seems to win. However, he's still playing 8+ other full tables (as I am) and he doesn't seem to be adjusting at all to heads up play. He's basically only playing like 25% of hands or something.
So I have been taking advantage of this by pretty much raising every hand, and I have managed to grind him down about 100 or so in the 25 or so hands prior to this hand.
Here is my thought process:
1. He's been raising very little preflop (probably around 10% or less), so I feel I can call in position literally with any two cards and have +EV with implied odds.
2. His check raise seems fishy on the flop so i make a call, thinking its possible that I have the best hand (he has AK/AQ), but incase I don't, I have a few bluffing outs for the turn (9, 6, maybe J).
3. The big bet on the turn doesn't really tell me much about his hand, and my initial read of AK being possible doesn't change at all. He'd bet there no matter what he had.
4. The turn card is a perfect card for me to bluff a nit with, so I push. The only thing I don't like much is the risk/reward, but I think he folds the vast majority of the time.
tl;dr I know. Thoughts? I am trying to brush up on my HU.

Not when you're running him over. He was looking for a hand, found it, sucker punched you into a big pot, perhaps crying a bit and making his stand.

Oh i am not running over him really after the flop, we've been playing small ball. I have been just stealing his blinds a lot.

You've taken a $100 off him so far and things aren't going his way. It's pretty clear his approach is to hit a big hand and play a big pot to make up of all for all of the little ones he's giving you. This is his spot.

Its also worth taking into account that he's multitabling and probably isn't putting a whole lot of thought into the metagame of this heads up match. I doubt he's getting very frustrated.

*shrug*
If he's not raising just about every hand he plays, this is a really easy pre-flop fold. He wants to play big pots and you want to keep robbing him blind until he runs into one of your hands.

so if someone is raising 10% of their hands (or maybe even less out of position) with 96bb stacks its not worth calling with 84 in position to see if I can flop a weird two pair or trips or 567 or something?
