**Official 2010 HU Challenge thread** (Final)

It's time for the second annual FTR HU Challenge.

Payout and Prizes:

1st - $1500, Custom title, FTR Gear, FTR Hat
2nd- $800, FTR Gear
3rd-4th - $200

Structure: Best 2 out of 3 matches, 200bb deep. Whether you play it on PokerStars or Full Tilt it doesn’t matter as long as the structure is the same. I recommend PokerStars 1/2 play money tables, you can buy in for 200bb and no rake. You play till one player is bust on 2 out of the 3 tables. For the sake of everybody's time you must play a minimum of 2 tables at the same time (preferably all 3) unless both players agree otherwise.

Rules: The structure must be the same whether you do play money tables or sit and go’s with no escalating blinds. You will have 1 week to complete your match once we set a start date. I will have final say in all disputes and if you fail to complete your match by the deadline one or both participants may be disqualified and your buy in forfeited.

Escrows: You must send payment to one of the escrows by to lock up your spot in the tournament which are first come first serve. You can send your payment on PokerStars or Full Tilt. I will be escrowing on stars and Gator will be escrowing on Full Tilt.

Once your payment is received either myself or Gator will post confirming in this thread.

Byes: If there are more than 32 entrants first round byes will be given out. Preference will be given to people who signed up earlier. Example: If there are 2 byes to be given out in the first round the 2 byes will be randomly selected from the first 6 ppl who signed up. If there are 4 byes then it'll be random from the first 12 ppl to sign up etc.

Brackets: The brackets will be determined at random. I will use the random sequencer on random.org by giving everybody a number based on the order they signed up. The brackets will be posted here 48 hours prior to the start date.

The tentative start date will be February 1st.

I think people were also generally in favour of best of 5 final. I think that seems legit and makes winning more credible.

@macro I certainly don't have a problem with this if i'm considered balla enough as I'm sure nobody else would object.

This is HUNL there is quite a bit of variance involved. Nobody is dead money.

As for the best of 5 final if the majority insists I guess we can do it. But honestly winning 1 more game isn't really lowering variance that much imo.

Slight problem however, I'm off to Thailand for a month beginning of feb so there may be problems setting up the matches as alot of places I'll be in won't have a decent internet connection. Yet I'm willing to enter my hundred and forfeit if I can't find a stable connection in time for a match.

I think its quite a bit easier to luckbox two wins, than luckbox 3 wins. And it's only for the finals, it's not like every round.

I don't even see why it's a question really, think it should easily be best of 3 everything and best of 5 finals.

People need to chime in to get this in place though.

Personally I think this is an excellent way to look at it if for some some reason you don't feel +ev in this field. You don't get better at poker by always playing against ppl who are worse than you. This is a much more affordable way to get put in a tough game compared to moving up a couple of levels to challenge yourself.
