UNC is really goood
Browns are looking terrible today again, down 21-3. They have now scored 6 first quarter points on the season! (really.)
I'm going to institute a new temporary rule, I won't watch the Browns unless BOTH conditions are satisfied:
1) The Browns must have already scored 7 points in the game
2) They must be winning, tied, or within 1 score.
It has been a while since both were met.
Anyway, I wasn't really sure where to post this. What is the protocol when a professional football team plays an amateur team?
LOL sick burn lukie

PSU fires joe pa a day after he announces retirement at the end of the season
apparently theres rioting now
#1 game of all time tonight.

lol PSU fans
I am enjoying imagining the chaos in the NCAA offices as they frantically dig up/trump up whatever violations they can to get him off #1 all time wins.
After his firing, they took down the rally sign in the locker with the words "Win or Buttsecks? Your choice."

That's right.
fuck va tech and 'beamer ball'
I want to fuck him too. Or just let him have me.
I simply can not believe how everyone is so quick to assume that Joe Paterno did something wrong in this situation. He didn't rape the 10 year old....he didn't even witness the raping of the 10 year old. When Mcquery finally told Paterno what he saw, he was vague in his description. How can anyone know if Paterno knew exactly what was going on? None of you were there. Paterno then, acting accordingly with University guidelines, reported it immediately to the Athletic Director. Since the police do not take heresay reports, calling the police would have done nothing. Since it was the Atletic Director's job to report it to his superior to conduct any investigations, Paterno did everything that he was supposed to do. I guess my real question is....why didn't Mcquery stop the rape when he saw it happening? If I saw a 10 yr old being raped, I wouldn't just walk away. Quit throwing Paterno under the bus. Mcquery saw it happen....and didn't do the right thing. If he would have stopped the act or gone to the police, none of this would have happened.
read this, can't remember where. makes a very good point.
Because grand juries only convene when they're going to hit a home run and the grand jury indictment said that the kid witnessed the boy being raped, called his father who said to come home, called Paterno and went to his home the next day, explained that he witnessed the boy getting raped, Paterno passed it up the In-House chain of command when he was obligated to call the police and the VP of student affairs.
At best, Paterno's thinking would have had to be, "I hope they do the right thing and involve the police in a manner that doesn't bring PSU through the mud."
Word is returned that Sandusky was given a slap on the wrist. Paterno acted in a manner which seems as if he was satisfied with this.
When a man is doing what Sandusky did, there's no clean way to step in and rectify the situation. It's like a cancer, and chemo is going to do a lot of collateral damage. Everyone wanted to sweep it away and hope Sandusky would never do it again, and that was an enormous mistake.
Penn State: the indictment against Jerry Sandusky | World news | guardian.co.uk
Victim 2 is the one that involves Paterno.
Also, now for some morbid reason that I've read the rest of that indictment. Victim 8 was witnessed by a Janitor who fought in the Korean war. He says he'd seen men with guts blown every which way and he was shaken by what he had seen.
It's entirely possible that all the hatred for that 28 yr old is misplaced since the true reaction for most people might not be to step in and protect the child but rather to pull back in horror at the unreality of what they just witnessed.
the idea he didn't ask for specifics doesn't make any sense to me. Also the indictment reads as if he told them exactly what he saw.Quote:
When Mcquery finally told Paterno what he saw, he was vague in his description.
The idea that if JOE PA called the cops and reported he was told a child was being raped in the shower nothing would happen, is so stupid I can't believe you re-quoted it.
I'm not a huge fan of McQ either but at least he has the excuse of fearing for his job which seems pretty legit (if gross & selfish) given how PSU handled things.
yeah i don't agree with most of it, but i wondered why Mcquery didn't stop it. In retrospect I coulda removed like 90%.
Anyway I thought Paterno deserved slightly more for his years of service but have no idea how to facilitate it, it is a travesty but at the same time, decades of helping young people. meh, i hate the one bad deed condemns a man, good people make mistakes but at the same time meh.
iunno i'm really torn on this whole thing. paterno was someone i respected and admired despite coaching those wankers at PSU but this is unforgiveable at the same time. meh.
McQ says he stopped it and told the police. if that turns out to be true...
not much you can do in life to absolve yourself from facilitation of child rape. coaching football, definitely not among them. imo?
if McQ actually stopped it and told the police and nothing was done my head asplodes.

it's not so much the coaching football its more the guiding generations of young people to be better.
I think the claim is that the grand jury wanted to keep certain details out of the (brief) indictment (there's a full version somewhere) to protect his identity. McQ was done dirty by the fact that his identity came out almost immediately.
OK I typed like 70 smart ass things that I may type again based upon your reply, but what is it exactly that makes you think he's 'guided generations' to do anything, let alone be better?
from my personal experience, and from what lots of athletes say if they are close to the coach in hs or college, less so in the pros, the coach is like a mentor or close to a 2nd father. my coach was someone i could talk to and seek solid advice from when i wasn't exactly comfortable talking to others about certain issues. this may not be the case for paterno but i can't believe that it's completely uncommon.
for example its widely acknowlaged by the players that Lloyd Carr taught them to be better men. Yes anyone can say that about their coach but it's pretty well stated by many michigan players throughout the years. i can also point to far less criminal charges for football players at michigan than other schools for an actual fact as well.
it may be cliche but i'd like to think true for a fair few coaches i'd imagine. and i would like to think a lot of the former players and coaches statements about paterno reflect that he was at the very least a solid mentor for some players.
If my dad covered up child rape I hope would not give him a pass.
the most important thing we know about joe pa is he put bowl games above kid anus. I'm glad he isn't 'mentoring' anyone I know.
I have so much respect for this guy and Beamer. Although I'm pretty sure Steinspring has the play calling ability of a 7 year old playing NCAA on Xbox. But even a fan has to admit they're over-ranked at the moment.
David Wilson is obviously superhuman and that jolly green giant of a quarterback is hilarious when he can QB sneak on 3rd & long and make it (usually plus some) 9/10 times.
But no way they're overall playing like a top 10 team. (See almost every conference game played this season for reference)
Agreed. But it's immaterial now. The ACC is winnable, we never care about winning the Orange Bowl, Logan Thomas is only a sophomore, David Wilson is pure man (though we have a history of having our God-backs going to the NFL) - shit is looking good for the Hokies.
What the fuck is going on? Today has been bananas, especially in the top 10!!
FUCK YEAH BAYLOR
C'MON CAL! DO IT FOR BOISE STATE!
I just read that Stoops took a time out after Baylor ran it for 5yds on 1st down with 40-something seconds left. Reminds me of Jim Caldwell's mistake in the NYJ-IND playoff game last year. You're just asking the other team to beat you.
FUCKING WOLFPACK IN THE HOOOOOOOOOOOOUSE
after michigan got snubbed after the last 'game of the century' ima be pissed when its lsu bama repeat
ALL RISE FOR MICHIGAN!

Yeah, Logan Thomas plays football real well.
NFL ready
lol the only game i watched him play he looked pretty horrible (clemson vs VT)
edit even though the noles looked like shit today, still stoked we won in the swamp. Between the virginia game and this one i have 0 faith in our offense =(...but we have a sick D and we only have 3 seniors
touche salesman
Dear Mike Gundy and Bret Beliema
DONT SCREW THIS UP FOR MICHIGAN.
I would say Les Miles as well but that man bleeds maize and blue and would not jepordize his NT shot and a Michigan Orange bowl spot by losing to Mark (charge the field guys) Richt
fml urban meyer to osu
2nd biggest comeback in ACC history what what!
Aka fuck. Bittersweet. Wanted to win but fuck Tom O'brien.
one of my aunts best friends sold Urban Meyer his house in Columbus earlier in the year, so i knew it was coming at some point. up until now i wasn't sure about him, but i think he will end up being a huge positive for OSU the way he can recruit.
Anything that can put a dent into SEC recruiting is a positive imo
#1 rematch of all time tonight.
dear houston good job losing.
dear oklahoma state please do the same
yeah, fuck.
Didn't watch Bedlam, but apparently my Alma Mater wasn't actually in the stadium. I'm watching the highlights and am not surprised. This is how Landry Jones plays when D-linemen blow on him.
I hate SEC love, but I am excited to see the rematch. I like forced fumbles and great punts more than 80 yd TD passes.
On that note, I fucking hate the Heisman Trophy bullshit. That #7 from LSU is a fucking beast and won't get a sniff. If the NFL tells us anything, RBs are a dime a dozen, so they shouldn't be winning Heisman's unless they have ridiculous seasons. QB is a hard position but if you play in a cupcake, pass-happy conference where you throw vs. air, I'm only looking at your games vs. good opponents.
Wait, this Montee Ball guy plays for the Big 10 Champs and is one TD short of tying the all-time NCAA FBS record? God I hate this stupid fucking Heisman trophy bullshit.
i would like to thank every team that did their part today in order for michigan to get the bcs bowl bid.
hey bikes, guess what?
i am highly suspicious of your intent sir but what news have you?
Sugar Bowl news, sir.
Ugh it's going to be an hour before they announce it officially, but Michigan-Va Tech in the Sugar Bowl.
every article i read says the michigan va tech sugar bowl is a 'travesty'
Not for us.
This season has been great. Ranked super high for no reason, get lolbliterated in the ACC CG and go to a better BCS bowl than the team that won.
The BCS is broken but it's broken in our favor, muhahaha
^^^ I think I saw the same montage and posted immediately afterwards. Being suspended hurts but getting absolutely no Heisman talk from the media for the vast majority of the season probably hurts worse. I mean Cam Newton's past was pretty sketchy but the media overlooked it b/c he smiled real nice. Wasn't Cam almost suspended last year?
 rilla
don't get me wrong, i think Mathiew (sp) should probably get the heisman, but the suspension and him being a dback will kill his chances. I do share your sentiment about lol running backs being a dime a dozen, especially how they are used by committee in the NFL these days.
If you aren't watching the Alamo Bowl right now, you should be. Going into the 4th, 53-49 Baylor over UW. Almost 1200 yards combined by the offenses so far.
GO DAWGS!
