sooo I'm playing today and notice an image in the chatbox which i have to type the words for to keep playing, and I have 100 seconds. Annoying but I guess its a good idea? Only had to type it once for all my tables

kinda seems dumb. Now the bots will just have to add a program that will type in the chat for them when the message comes up

If the botmaker can do that then he doesnt have to run poker bots to get rich.

even if that were the case, and it would be a challenge in itself, it's nice to see that stars is taking proactive measures to prevent cheating. There are a lot of other examples as well in the recent past.

I wonder what they use to determine who gets these anti-bot messages (i.e. strictly number of tables, number of hands, etc.)?

I got one of these earlier in ths month. It actually made me happy, because that means Stars cares enough to check for bots.

Hi, I am new to FTR (not technically... long time reader.. first time poster) . I am very curious about this word verification, I've been getting it everyday for the last 2 weeks.. it is getting annoying! I am trying to figure out what sets it off (obviously pokerstars wouldnt assist me with this). I only play 2-4 tables at a time, but I play long sessions (not long compared to some of you... usually 6hours or so) . I don't use any stats programs or anything.
How many table do you guys usually play at once? or hands per month?
I definitely play more then 50k hands a month.
Also I use the default size table, I wonder if this is something that also might set it off? if you multi table with normal size tables?
Blah, I dont know.. I just want it to go away! It's so annoying. I mean, I suppose its good that its there, but I dont understand why I keep getting hit by it.

Thanks for the reply ISF. I did email support they basically told me they couldnt help me (which is actually understandable).. if they told me what was setting it off, it would kind of defeat the purpose of having it.. so unfortunately I am on my own.. I think I am going to reinstall windows just incase some 3rd party software I have is setting it off.. I dont know, its just getting really annoying.

I have a few questions regarding poker bots. I found some free poker bots that claim they are 100% guaranteed to be undetectable by the internet poker sites. Is this true? I don't think the poker rooms can't detect a bot. The same free poker bots state that "You are not allowed to use the poker bot on poker sites where robotic software is prohibited. You are responsible for investigating whether the use of the poker bot is allowed or not." From all I know all poker sites prohibite the use of robotic software.
Why are those bots free? They say it's a win-win situation, but I don't understand what they gain from not selling them.

here's a maybe stupid question...why do the image verifications on various sites have to be so jumbled and hard to read? a bot can't really decipher an image anyways right so what's the point?

you are reinstalling windows to prevent having to type an image into a box at most once a day?

Actually, bots can apparently defeat image verification aka CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart).

So the safeguard that was supposed to prove we're human is now being done by a nonhuman at superhuman speeds. Ah, the irony.

A better verification:
example
"add a plus between these. what's the answer?
2 25"
I wanna see a bot answering that!

Yeah it's actually not too hard to make scripts to do these.

Oh please, shut up. If I were making a bot I'd run it on another site that has rakeback and no security.. why would I want to run it on stars, when I could run it on some European site that is alot softer, has rakeback, no security???
In reply to Lukie, I reinstall windows pretty often, so its not a big deal to me, also I am not really concerned about typing in an image once a day (altho it is annoying), my main concern is stars thinks I'm a bot, and I don't want them to think that .. one day I'll mistype the image and they'll seize me funds or something
In reply to Jack again, if you think having something like 25+2 will prevent bots that can read the image you are a fool... you think if a bot could read it, they wouldnt be able to solve simple problems?? Reading it would be the only hard part, what you have to do with the info after (solve a math problem) wouldnt be an issue.

Yeah, because the one thing Stars hates more than bots is typos.

Obviously, that is the whole point
Bots can't interpret as well as (most) humans do, what is called "common sense", at least not until the Terminator-era
We need a captcha that the bot can't can't decipher, therefore while the bot will read the data, it won't know what the hell to do with it
Oh, and btw, you will get caught

I'm pretty sure that if someone emails support and suggests you may be a bot they will trigger it.
I've had it happen only once while i was 24 tabling...
