HERO wins Lo ($195.50 USD) from the main pot with 6,5,4,2,A. Here it's checked through to me on the flop and I check behind. On the turn, I hit trips and villain bets. I'm assuming the first two to act don’t have something like 34, and the villain has Axxx (or he’s full of shit taking a stab). Since I don’t know which, I raise the turn to hopefully get 2nd nut lows out of the way and test villain. When I seem him stick it in with no low, I fist pump! I got 13 outs to scoop him (3, 4, 5, J) and the best he can hope for is to scoop. Add to friends list. (Villain should have folded the turn; with no low he’s probably drawing to half at best, or he could be beat for high already. The only hand he beats is another one with no low and a worse kicker, but how likely is that? Does he think I raise A89T? Best case for him is I got something like AKQJ no club suit and then he’s almost racing. Here, I make the same mistake, playing with a high that might be good, or might not be good, on a board with a made low. This is BAD. On the flop, a lead is justified ‘cos it just picks up the pot a lot of the time – I ran into a semi-cooler but that 7h should have saved me. Once the low hit, I should not have put another dollar in the pot. |
