PokerStars Weekly News Update 6/25/2012
1. French Open Champion Rafael Nadal has joined Team PokerStars! Considered a top-10 tennis player of all-time, Nadal and his 11 Grand Slams recently partnered up with the world's biggest poker site. "Rafa" as he is known, has yet to hit a big score on the poker tournament circuit, but is looking to change that by soliciting advice from PokerStars players. Simply create a video tip for Rafa and you could win EPT tour packages worth up to €6,800.
2. Satellites for the MicroMillions II have begun! Players can now qualify for tournaments, including the $22 Main Event, via PokerStars satellite system. Satellites will run non-stop for the next month until the conclusion of the tournament series.
3. On the opposite end of the money spectrum, there has been a lot of high-stakes action on Stars recently. The railbirds have been kept quite busy with $50/$100 stakes going in both NL Hold'em and PL Omaha. Some of the more notable players duking it out have been Illari Sahamies, Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky, and Theor Jorgensen.
4. The Latin American Poker League allows players to win cash prizes through collecting monthly points. Players can participate in the bronze, silver, and gold leagues which carry $.11, $.55, and $1.10 buy-ins respectively. There are also freerolls to the Bronze events. Points are awarded on tournament finish position, with 100 going to the winner. The Gold league carries a $1,000 monthly prize pool. Events take place every Saturday and Sunday at 20:00 ET.
