Hi all,

I'm working on a poker skin for an unnamed company, and I wanted to get some feedback from you with regards to what you love and what you hate about the poker rooms you play on.

(Btw, I took a look at the forum rules and didn't see anything against this type of post. If I am mistaken, I apologize.)

At this point, I'm limiting this to poker table interface, so it doesn't include info about the game lobby, etc.

I've read through a ton of the poker room reviews on FTR (thank you!), and I've got a ton of great information, but I really wanted to take this to the players. I appreciate your feedback.

1. Which do you prefer?
a) 3d avatars
b) customizable avatar image
c) no avatar (just let me see the dang cards, chips, and table)

2. Is being able to rotate the table important to you?
(you generally can't do this in poker rooms with 3d avatars)

3. Do you play multiple tables when you're online?

4. How important is the chat window?
a) Make it big -- it's an absolute necessity
b) I pay attention to it sometimes
c) Make it as small as possible -- I don't pay attention to it

Thanks in advance for your input, thoughts, and comments.

I hate that this is your first and only post at FTR, but I'll play along.

1. PokerStars customizable avatar is the absolute best.
2. Rotating is not important, although I do like how Ultimate Bet always centers your player at the table. That way you don't have to look around to figure out where you are at when multitabling.
3. Yes.
4. Chat window is very very unimportant.

I have a really quick and easy answer. The more customizable the window is, the better. If we get enough options every player can find something they like.

I found a post similar to this at 2+2..the question was "What features would you like to see in online poker rooms?"

I actually gave it some thought. Here's what I came up with:

Check in the dark button (before the flop or next card comes off).

Improved slider. Instead of slider, use a clickable thingamajig like:
> >>
Click on the >, your bet increases by $1, click on the >>, your bet increases by $10. Something like that. Sliders are so analog, and my bets are not analog at all.

Cartoony graphics are so [censored], all sites should look like PokerStars.

All sites should clearly show the rake increasing at the end of each betting round. I've noticed a lot of sites that are sneaky and just take it all out, right before the pot is pushed.

All sites need to get my attention like PokerStars does when it's my turn. Some sites don't even bring themselves to the foreground when the action's on me.

No cap on betting when entering a round heads up. Guess they don't want the fish going broke too fast.

Increased minimum buyins.

No disconnect protection, but longer times to reconnect if involved in a hand. There could be a daily or weekly cap on the number of times this could be used. Let's say.....3 minutes. This would give someone time to use a backup dial up connection if they had it and their cable modem went down. This would be relevant in high stakes games.

universal placement of check/bet/raise/fold buttons at all sites. Some sites put them in a different order and it really slows me down.

Instant neteller cashouts at all sites. Again, like pokerstars.

Chat turned completely off during a hand. I've actually had people telling other people to fold, calling hands, etc.

Separate chat room for railbirds and players, with an option to combine if desired.

Lower rakes. Online rakes are ridiculous compared to B&M counterparts. Almost no overhead...no rake should ever be more than $1 IMO.

Advanced option like overs with certain players. Imagine getting someone on tilt, then challenging them to overs when HU. Jackpot!

Standardized hand history format between all pokerrooms.

This is just a start. I'll post more later.

most of that is not interface suggestions, but:

Do not turn off chat during hands, but the players in the hand can only see other players in the hand's chat.

Lower rake would be dumb for the poker room. Keep wishing

Please god DO NOT INCREASE MINIMUM BUYINs Alsmot all the players who buy in short are fish.

How about delaying chat that is typed in during a hand from showing up onscreeen until completion of that hand. Hands typically take less than a minute anway.

They can still buy in short, just not as short. I've had a lot of situations where a short stack all in has killed my action from the rest of the table. For instance - make minimum buyin at 25NL $10 instead of $5. They would still buyin short, but there all in mistakes would be twice as big now, right?

It's closely related enough.

It wouldn't be dumb for some second rate poker rooms that are trying to establish a larger market share. I'm surprised online rooms have not resorted to rake wars yet.

Miffed22001 is on a distinguished road
just make sure that everything you can have in teh poker window can be toggled on and off.

So chat on/off
avatars on/off etc

if you work hard on customisation facilities for the average player who is going to play a lot of hands then you should be doing alright imo. I.e customizable size/position.

also, make sure the buttons for bet/raise/fold are a rweasonable size and make sure they work when you click once.
If you want another one, make sure you can change the bet size in nl games easily when the window pop up for actions.

There, i have no idea what the others said but theres my cents.
