I was just wondering if anyone thinks competition from other sites will help drive the rake and entry fee's down. I'm sure most sites could chop it in half and still make a big profit, but will it ever happen?

Great question... seems like the party 5/1s are still going strong, which is not a good sign.

Do you think a new site that offers lower rakes would get more traffic? Or will one of the current big sites have to drop the rake to get people to notice?

Crazy Poker has just started giving all players 33% rakeback. It could be that there will be more deals like this that don't involve 3rd partys. This is a simple way to control the rake without having to change all their charges. Once it's set up they can simply adjust the % rakeback depending on the market.

Downside is they have stopped the monthly $100 reload which clears in ~1000 hands at 1/2. I suspect the rakeback on the same 1000 hands will be a lot less.
