First id like to introduce myself, as I am new to this site but not new to poker. Im 22 years old from Toronto, Canada and play hold em often with friends or online for fun.
Recently ive wanted to play online. Now my question is, using 50 doller deposit, do you think the 50 cent tables would be benifical to making money or the doller tables. Or 10 doller tournaments. Sorry if this is a newb question.
Thanks guys!!
any recomendations on where to play?

I always make sure that I have enough for 100 BBs in the ring games I play, some other people may differ in opinion, but I think that you should be OK with the 50 cent tables.

Do you guys prefer tables with a full amount of players, or just a few? How about large pots? More fools better?

the 300BB rule is a good one for fixed. the NL you should have around 10x the max buy in.
basically to play at 0.50/1 fixed or NL you should have 300 bucks. if you're playing SnGs you wanna to be able to afford 10 consecutive tournies....so for 10+1 you want at least 110.
try all the games and stick with what you like. shorthanded tables tend to attract better players so be aware of that.

I would recommend playing the 10-player full tables if possible. Learn the strategies throughout this site. As you get comfortable with your game, you can move up in stakes and later try the short-handed games.

Hyper and Xainti have good responses here..
With a $50 deposit I'd try to find lower limits that .25/.50.. $.5/$1 is pretty much out of the question. Look for $.05/.10 or .10/.20 if possible.
Maybe a .01/.02 NL game with a $5 max buy-in? (poker stars has this)
The 6 player games are ALOT swingier than normal 10 tables. Short term luck there can make you think your beating them and you can go broke 2 days later. I would avoid these until you really understand whats going on and how to read the other players at the table.

Welcome to FTR ISHACKABUKU
I'm from toronto too! (young/steels)
anyways, to handle the variance that cards give you, you need
certain amount of money to play at certain level.
To play a limit game, people say 300BB is a safe bankroll to play with,
(BB being "Big bet" so in a 5cent/10cent Limit game, 5 BB would be 50 cents)
For No-limit games, 10 x Max buyin should be enough, though you might be money scared, so 15x would be better.
To play single table tournament (aka SnG), you will need around 20x buyins.
Overall, since you don't have that much of a bankroll to begin with, I
suggest you play on Paradise Poker. they offer 2$ NL game with 1/2cent blinds. You can deep your feet in these w/o much risk, and learn about the game! when you signup, use the bonus code GRANNY for 50% first deposit bonus (for you this will be +25$!)
I started from these tables my self, and learned alot from playing these.
let me know if you need any more help.

oh and avoid short-handed games (6 or less). you need a lot of experience and learn the agressive play to play in these.
when building bankroll, nothing beats nut-paddling (waiting for the best hands) at low stakes no limit game. play all pocket pairs for 5~10% of your stack to see if you will flop the set, and raise heavy with AA/KK (as much as 50cents at 2$ tables. people will still call you often enough).

A 50.00 deposit I think is adequate for .25/.50 limit games. That is if you are a winning player.
I would recommend going in with 75-100 if you are wanting to play .50/1.00. You can start with 50.00, but don't be too surprised if you go bust if you catch cold cards right away.
I would recommend Poker Stars or Paradise also. Poker Stars has an excellent choice of tables and limits. Paradise has the 2.00 NL games that others have mentioned, as well as .10/.20 limit, which I liked.

i'd recommend going to pokerstays because they don't have any deposit bonuses. most of the bonuses at other sites are one time things, so you'll wanna maximize them with a bigger bankroll.

Thanks for you advice guys! I believe im going to hop into pacific poker although i hate the graphics. I much prefer true poker although they dont have low stakes!
I am not a newb when it comes to hold em, but I am when it comes to hold em online. I play in play tournaments on true poker often and have won several times over 100 players in NL hold em. Although i dont take play games seriously.

I just wanted to update you guys on my decision, if any of you care! I joined paradise poker, with 50 doller deposit. Got a 12 doller bonus which i believe i have to earn somehow by playing rated games? So far i have 4 points. Anyways.....I have chosen and like 2NL tables. After loosing an inital 5-6 bucks I have found a system I feel comfortable with and have almost gained back my 6 doller loss. This is only with about 200 hands played in a couple of hours, roughly. At first I had played on tables I thought were all newbs and muscled to rob the blinds, although this got me burned when I was called! Anyways if anyone is interested Ill post a hand history or whatever!

Don't worry about stealing the blinds in a small NL game like that.
Keep your preflop bets consistant.
Just play solid ABC poker and you can beat the game.

I quickly realized that stealing the blinds was useless! Its such a small gain and a bigger risk if called!
