One thing I've noticed over the past few weeks is that the time of day can greatly affect the amount of fish or poor players online.
The trouble is that I haven't been able to establish a pattern for PokerStars or Empire. I have found that friday at 1 or 2 in the morning I can find the softest tables.
Just wondering if anyone else knows of specific times to play, and where the fish are biting (ring or SnG)?

I seem to play at rock garden time all the time. The 2/4 games usually have a pot avg of $30 and SnGs will hit 200/400 easily before the bubble bursts.
Maybe I should wake up early and play.

I think this is a very interesting topic and have been tracking results versus time of day for a while. I play mostly PP SnGs $10 or $20 and I don't have enough data yet to report.
It definitely appears to me that certain times of day have more solid/tight play than others. The biggest co-variable of course would be # of players on line and I find games to definitely be softer with 50k+ on line vs 20-30k.
Also, some of the sites with high %of European players (greetings Toasty) may have peak playing times (best fish%) differing from the sites with high American player base.
Would be very interested in feedback from others on this entire topic.

I've noticed the same thing. For me I typically have the best results in the morning before work. I think though that has more to do with me than with the other players. When I play late at night, I tend to be more loose than is good for my own good.

Weekends, particularly Saturday morning-afternoon has been very easy for me (PT).

I play mostly $25 NL HE Ring Games on Party. I find that I make most of my money between 11:00pm - 1:00am Pacific. Partly this is because I don't start playing until 8:30-9:00 and it takes a bit of time to build up a comfortable stack which I can then leverage into more $$$. Also I think it's because people start getting tired and they are "trying to win their money back." Hence, a lot of loose action and stupid play.

That's a good point Makana, I might experiment with playing early hours GMT, wake up at 5am and play from 5.30am to around mid-day. This should hook me up with the drunks in the US who are staying up late chasing losses and stuff.

Don't forget the multitude of drunk and stoned people playing on both coasts during this time.
