What is a reasonable goal in small NL HE?

Hey all!

New to the board and Have enjoyed the wisdom you all have shared.

A little history...

I had been playing online for free for quite some time, but once you get over 2 million make-believe dollars it loses its shine. So I decided to venture into playing for the real deal.

Deposited a meager 40 bucks ( a fraction of my offline winnings) and started cleaning up in the 10 SnGs. Then came the inevitable bad beat streak. AA being busted by A4, Made flushes being beat by drawn boats, etc.

Needless to say, I worked through my bankroll in short order and took a few days off.

When I came back, I decided to slum it in the 5 SnGs.

So this is what hell is like.

Bad players being rewarded for dumb decisions. While my tight agressive play is rewarded with an ITM pct of 55% with a negative ROI rating.

So I decided to play ring games and make some bankroll there. The question I have is this:

If a professional NL holdem player sets a bar of one big pot per hour as a standard in live rooms, what would be the equivalent online?

What would you consider "big? "

i know this answer is not what you are looking for, but i think setting a value goal is a bad idea, just play solid poker.

People will have different opinions on this. Some people may have to set some sort of goal as a form of motivation. But then again, what other motivation do you need other than winning the other person's money?

But Gabriel is right, setting goals is not a great idea. You will only become frustrated when goals aren't met.

By "big" pot, I would assume you mean doubling up.

Well, I've done that twice today. I am now profitable online (again)!

I'm not sure why I started playing SnGs to begin with. Always a much better ring player

2 pieces of wisdom...

1 -- The 5 and ten dollar SNGs on party are, for the most part, wild. This is going to mean huge variance. If you're planning to play them, you had better have at least 20XBI to start with. Personally, I have found the 30, 50, and 100 all to be easier to beat (I average about +1.25BI) consistantly.

Per NL ring games -- look at your performance in terms of per 100 hands, not per hour. A few slow players can half the number of hands/hr at a given table. I like to consider myself pretty good, and I earn about $7/100 -- which is a nice extra income, if a bit of a grind.
