Hi guys,
I've been playing on RedKings for about the last 4 months, and while I've won a lot there, there is a big problem, their reliability.
I'm not just talking about the reliability of their program, but the reliability of their internet connections.
First and foremost, because I play poker online, I have both a primary, and secondary internet connection that I can switch to in the case that my first connection goes down. A flakey internet connection is simply not acceptable. While I've given RedKings the benefit of the doubt up until now, the odds are simply impossible that it is my side, and I'm ready to freak out.
Not only does it add insult to injury that I've lost many 50+4 and 30+3 buyins because of their flakey program (the errors in which I will explain in detail later) the fact is that due to the help of StoxPoker, I was usually in first, or second, or right on the bubble when these untimely disconnects happen, and lose the prize money that I should have won.
I will now outline the problems with the programs.
1) It is a resource whore that easily kills my brand new dell vostro core duo with 2gb of ram. Simply put, it slows the computer down to a crawl.
2) When the program disconnects, it frequently does not detect that the connection has dropped and will not try to reconnect. My longest experience of this was waiting an agonizing 2 minutes before it attempted its first reconnect attempt.
3) The program does not always open the windows, twice have I been registered in tournaments, only to figure out that it has already started and the window has not opened. Much to my dismay by the time I noticed I was significantly short stacked.
4) The program often crashes on start up while 'checking for updates', while I was multitabling a 30+3 sng and a 50+4 sng in 2nd and 1st place at each table respectively, the program seemingly started to studder and halt. When I attempted to reconnect, the program would 'check for updates' and summarily close. I was constantly running a speakeasy.net speedtest to assure that my connection was running. It was at full speed.
5) Because most of these program issues are inherent programming errors, they do not show up in the error log.
I hope many of you heed this advice and avoid RedKings like a plague.
Not only have I lost several hundred, if not thousands in buy ins and potential winnings, I've lost my respect and faith in the software that I use, which is an absolute necessity when trusting a company with hundreds of dollars.
I, of course, will be forwarding RedKings a link to this page.
