Has anyone tried playing on Victor Chandler Poker. I played some free games there before I came to this site and everyone was recommending PP. I think they are big in Europe. Is anyone familiar with this place?

Yeah i've played at VC loads, i started my bankroll there playing giveaways and slowly increased it playing SNG's. A couple of weeks ago i started playing ring games and couldn't believe how bad everyone was compared to stars.

Its a reasonable poker room, i like the interface and sound. You can't get hand histories which is lame. There are usually 2-3000 people on at once so there are a few tables to choose from but not a massive number, i tend to 3 table 0.05/0.1 and am generally playing 1/3 of the full (9 player) tables at that limit. They do omaha and O8 but nobody really plays them much.

The best thing about VC is the cheap SNG's and MTT's 10c SNG's and 1c R&A MTT's and up are available. They also have a good blind structure in these games, very similar to Stars, and they have speed and turbo variants as well.

They only offer about 25% deposit bonus but you can clear this at the lowest limits, so in summary i'd say it is a good place to play if you have a small bankroll which you want to increase or you want lots of SNG/MTT practice and don't want to pay $5 a time.

I suppose i could write this up into a proper review for the front page if people want but i wouldn't be able to comment on the higher limits as i've not got there yet.

Hey Legendash,

I would really like to see a full review of Victor Chandler Poker, if you post your review here, I can put it up off the homepage. And for your effort we'd be happy to send you a FTR sweatshirt or anything else you may like from our store.

The one thing about Victor Chandler is that they do not accept US players.

This is from their website:

Quote:
Do you accept US players?

We do not accept players based in the US for either VCCasino or VCpoker so bear in mind who your site is aimed at.
However, VCPoker is on the Tribeca Table Network, so I believe
Golden Palace Poker, also a Tribeca poker room, is a skin of the same room but Golden Palace Poker DOES ALLOW for US players.

Can anyone confirm that the above is fact? (I don't have an account at either.)

Anyway, Legendash, if you can put a review together, we'll post it off the homepage and send you whatever you want from the store, so let us know![/url]

i am just wondering

Well, pretty much, have some ideas?

I think Xianti is playing over at CDPoker right now so he can write a review, and Eric will be playing over at Caribbean Sun Poker for his next review.

So, I'm interested in reviews for Royal Vegas, Paradise Poker, and PokerChamps (Gus Hansen's new room).

You wanna write one for us? You just have to promise you'll use grammar/spell-check if you're writing skills are as poor as Eric's!

You guys rock. Try to follow the same layout, and cover the same info, as our existing write ups. I can make whatever modifications when I post them off the homepage.

Thanks guys.

No very cheap NL tables
Not many players, especially at limit tables
No Linux support

VCPoker is a moderately sized European based poker room. American players are technically not allowed but can play on the same servers by signing up at golden palace poker or platinum poker. Doyle Brunson endorses the network and has his own skin, Doylesroom.com.

Interface

The interface at VC is one of the best I've seen. From the lobby the average pot is shown though the percentage of players seeing each flop isn't. The tables seat 9 players. The chips and cards are displayed larger than anywhere else I've seen, this means I can easily keep track of games whilst 4-tabling on a 17" monitor. The sound is also good, chips and cards sound like they should. There is an option to make notes on players (up to 1024 chars) and once you have made a note on a player a yellow note icon appears next to their name. There are also statistics available which accumulate over time and can be filtered for game type and number of players at the table. These are very detailed showing games won, flops seen, won at showdown, won with flop seen, percentage of calling raising etc and percentage of folding position. There are a number of avatars available which add colour and help to identify players. There is a single chat window which is separate from your tables. This is good for storing chat but if you are multi-tabling and the focus jumps to another table you will lose half written chat. There is also a good fish/buddy list which shows ring games and tournaments your friends are playing at and alerts will flash up on each table when a friend comes online. The main drawback on VC is the lack of hand histories. There is a show last hand option on each table but it does not reveal mucked cards like party so it isn't of much use. Selecting the amount to bet is quite easy, there are fold and call buttons and for raises you can either type it in or use small boxes under the type box to select 2x 4x 8x or 16x the big blind. VC cannot be played on Linux.

Tournaments

I've been playing at VCPoker for a year. It was the first poker room I played at because they offered a chance to earn real money by entering limit SNG's. After a few weeks of play (and the discovery of FTR) I had created my first bank roll. The reason I was able to achieve this was due to a unique feature of VC, extremely low buy in SNG's and MTT's. The range of SNG buy-ins are $0.1 $0.25 $0.5 $1 $3 $5 $10 $15 $25 $50 $100 $200 and $500 so there should be a tournament to suit any bankroll. You start with 2000 chips and blinds start at 20/40 increasing every 8 minutes which gives plenty of time to use your skills. MTT's are a similar story with the same blind structure and similarly low buy ins, starting at 0.01+0 R&A and including $0.25, $0.6 $1 $2 $3 $6 $12 etc. Waiting for a SNG to start is not as quick as stars for example but they will start after a few minutes.

Ring Games

Strangely, given the low buy-ins for tournaments there are no 0.01/0.02 NL games. I haven't played the higher limits available but there are usually about 5 full tables at each limit, this low number is due to the total number of players on the site typically being 3000 or so. Because VC is a European site, peak time is the afternoon in America. However there are enough American players to keep a reasonable number of players into the evening. At the lowest limit the action is very loose, people will play any hand from any position, there is lots of limping preflop and lots of calling huge bets post flop. Tight aggressive play does not seem as important as seeing lots of flops with hands with the potential to improve. The maximum buy in at 0.05/0.1 is $20, twice as high as poker stars, another factor encouraging limping and drawing. No Limit is much more popular than limit or pot limit, I wouldn't recomend the site to limit players due to the low number of games available, only $1/2 has more than five tables running. Omaha and Omaha Hi/Low are also offered but hardly anyone plays them. 7 Card Stud is not offered. VC tries to limit you to only having 2 tables on screen at once but by using the waiting lists you can open more than this (At least 5).

Customer Support

VC has live chat with operators who have always been available when I needed to speak to them and were helpful and courteous. I deposited money instantly using Visa and cashed back out to Visa though I don't know if Americans will be able to do this. Neteller is an option. My first cashout is still going through after 3 days, I will update when it comes through. Players accounts are stored in pounds though games are played in dollars. This allows cashouts in pounds without any conversions.

Deposit Bonus

VC offers a standard bonus of 25% up to $100. To clear it you must earn action points which are somewhat complicated but are clearable, though I have heard they take longer to clear than some other sites. They can be cleared at the lowest limits (unlike Stars) which is a positive for those without large bank rolls. I have cleared $4 per hour 3-tabling 0.05/0.1 NL.

This sounds pretty interesting. I especially like the cheap SNGs. I'm losing money (slowly) playing them on Stars (still getting used to the whole online thing), but I'm absolutely cleaning up playing in my live games now.

I might have to check this out.

Legendash, thanks for the write up.

Do you think you could add the "At a Glance" section?

You can check out our Gaming Club review as a reference:
http://www.flopturnriver.com/reviews...GamingClub.php

Thanks, once that's completed, I'll work on putting it up off the homepage, and then you can tell me what you'd like from our store!

Thanks again.

I can confirm that you shouldn't play VC pokker if you live in the states. I play platinum poker instead.

(It's a great way to play for free and build your BR up. I started with their free roll SNGs and I'm up to $100)
