Simple question, do you think there is any advantage or disadvantage to having a picture up on a poker site?
Also, are there certain types of pics that you think are good or bad?
I know that you have thought about this!!!

people can remember u better, so i dont use an image when i play on stars.
however i think it would be a lot easier when multitabling to find where i am sitting.

Wouldn't your displayed cards tip you off to where you are sitting better than a small image?
|
|
The flop, turn and river can change everything. It is important to remain objective and remember that the overall goal is to win, not win this specific hand

yeah, but im compulsive and like to rebuy all the time after i fold. so my cards at that point dont help much. i like to see my stack. also helps figure out if i want to auto-post or not.

if u dont even know where youre sitting you probably arent paying anywhere near enough attention. turn the tv off and play properly.

I personally don't like seeing pics of people's kids on stars. I can't think of a sound reason at the moment, but i just don't.

Images are a great source of information. A lot of people make very poor choices.

I turn images and avatars off so I could care less what people use. I used to get bad info from them, like book by the cover.

Well, I think most importantly images make it easier to remember people. I would think that if you want to be remembered, you have a loosy goosy image, than it is great to have an image. However, if your playing weak tight or even TAGG you may not want to be remembered.

i have also noticed that the "crazy/goth/aggressive" images tend (though not always) to be LAGGY.
however, i think that some use their image as reverse psychology.

Well I think assuming all non PT/HUD users as losing players is probably a big generalization. In fact, I have yet to start using these programs and have been quite profitable up to 100NL, though I certainly plan to use them.
It was my impression from the PT site that the serial number/code they give you is to be used only once. I am planning on buying a new computer soon, so I assumed that I would have difficulty trying to use this code on a new computer again. Will this be the case?
This may be a difficult question to answer, but which of PT/HUD would people say has had more of a direct impact on performance/winrate?

You can install it on up to two computers - same with PokeraceHUD.

Great.. thanks, thats really helpful. I guess I had no need to be waiting all this time.. now the question is, to buy PT/HUD or both..

Is there a particular reason why you'd think HUD is -ev? I'm sure all those that use HUD would likely disagree.. I'd be interested in hearing both sides before I bought it. The only reason I can see it being -ev is that you form a dependence on those numbers, and rely less on your reads and gut feel for the situation.

I'm 42 with a bad memory and I multitable 4 at least. Without a hud I may as well jsut play one orbit and switch tables. The only people I remember are the fish that suck out on me for a stack, Them I don't forget.

Phfffft...HUD is only -EV if you become overly reliant on it. It's a tool I'd rather have in my toolbox than not.

most multitablers who use HUD read bad. FWIW, id never play limit without my HUD on, but id never play nl with it on.
lhe is automatic and quite robotic IMO, whereas NL is not due to implied odds etc.

I shut off avatars cause they just distract me from the game. I have several times seen names and avatars that look like they are stupid, like a stupid clown or a guy who is cross eyed, then I find these players give lots of action, but are pretty damn good players
as for HUD, I think it helps a lot. if some dude with a pfr of 2% raises preflop then you know what he has. If another player with a pfr of 15% bets on the button, you know he is most likely full of shit. I also really like the stats that tell me how much money they gave made in previous hands. very unprofitable players are my favorite and I work on exploiting them. Abd there are plenty of stats that help my game out. I can play without it, and I do sometimes, when I play at work, but why through away a tool that only improves my reads on someone.

I was just thinking about that today while planning my next move.
Gimme a vote on a name: 'I'm with stupid'
and an icon of an arrow pointing to the seat next to you.
just like those shirts in the 70's that you always wanted
but just didn't have the six an a half bucks.

You won't always be in the same seat so the arrow will point in all different directions.

that's true. I'd hate to pass on a juicy ring-game just cuz my arrow wasn't gonna properly insult somebody.
Guess we'll drop that one.
NEXT?

If you just e-mail their support they will be more than happy to send you a new code if you're installing it on another computer. Also, if for some reason your HD gets wiped, just download it again and ask for a new number...
