I've never used the Visa/MC check cards with my checking accounts (I have a couple of secondary accounts to firewall my main checking account from getting frozen/overdrawn by places like PayPal and NeTeller) as anything other than ATM cards. Would this work?
1) Open a free checking account at some bank that includes free online banking and check card (usually Visa)
2) fund account with deposit check from main bank account (or link to a high yield online savings account)
3) Use Visa check card to deposit money into poker site.
I understand that Visa/MC have stopped American credit card transactions with gambling sites long ago, but is that across the board for all Visa/MC products or is it ONLY credit cards? The money would be coming from your checking account and not your credit line so there would be no danger of you (the player) welching and claiming that you didn't buy the credits at the gambling sites (I have a friend who had their checking account wiped out when someone got ahold of their PayPal account and spent all the money in the checking account. That sucks, but that may offer some hope for this method of depositing).
The bank may have an issue with this, but if Visa process the transaction, the home bank doesn't really have anything to do with it other than moving the money from checking to Visa. And if Visa gift cards can be processed at poekr sites, why wouldn't Visa check card transactions?
Forgive me if this has been tried/discussed already. I'll probably try it when I get home and report back, but if anybody's already tried it I'd like to hear, as would a lot of other people.

Easier way. Go to your local food market or gas station and pick up an all access Visa Gift Card. They come in amounts of $25, $50, $100, and $250. Go home type the card info in on Full Tilt and in no more then a minute it's in your account and ready to play.
Note: Make sure it says ALL ACCESS on it. It is incredibly easy to use.

FWIW...
I tried that with 2 different VISA gift cards I have on PS but the banks would'nt allow the transaction.
I was however able to reload an old epassporte account I had with the cards. This was very easy.

I tried it on UB ("it" being the bank check card that I mention in the OP).
No go. My card came up as "restricted" and the transaction was rejected. There was a big yellow button that said something like "Click here to retry this card via an alternate deposit". I clicked that and then the next screen said "Your transaction is complete! Thank you, your deposit has been pre-authorized for an amount of $xxx. Due to this status no funds were deposited into your on-line gaming account under Account ID xxxx.
Please contact Customer Service at 1.866.605.0311 to verify your information and to check your transaction status."
I called, was on hold for about 20 minutes and got a heavy-breathing CS rep who told me that they couldn't run this card because it was restricted but that they can try other cards manually (no money will be taken from my checking account). He said that he's had an ~80% success rate doing it manually with US accounts. Or other options are Western Union or Epass.
FWIW.
I'll probably try the Visa Gift Card thing now (no fees with that as long as it's used before 6 months from purchase, right?).
EDIT: did some homework on the all access card-- $5.95 plus whatever the balance on the card is to buy it.

I've used my visa check card and it's always worked. I guess it's not anymore but if you have an account at a small bank it'll work.

Slash it did work for me. I bought the wrong ones the 1st time but managed to find the ones I needed. The all access ones. So I used my gift cards to buy new gift cards and I was impressed by how quick they worked.
