I'm thinking of maybe putting some money into ultimate bet when I build my bankroll up, but was a little put off by the last review comment: -

UB has far too many high powered hands. Poor players stay in on nothing and are rewarded for their idiocy. I don't see these hands on other sites. One of the worst sites on the internet.

I just wondered if anyone else had used ultimate bet and if they think this is true,
Thanks

I've been playing on UB the last 2 months and have now deposited on stars as well, since during the weekdays there arent many 100nl 6-max tables running, so playing mostly the same regs all the time. 50NL and lower, plenty of tables though
As to the remark. I dont think its much worse then in other sites. I mean you want them to keep calling with worse hands right?? sure they catch up sometimes, but I dont feel its a ridiculous high amount or something.
disadvantage: all tables running are BBJ-tables so more rake...

If you look hard enough, you'll find people saying this about pretty much every site, because that was their experience.
I played on UB and made a decent amount over 60k hands. I noticed more sucking out at full tilt and stars to be honest, but I don't think that's anything more than my personal experience. There's a lot of variability in the game of no limit hold them, and the suspicious will generalize based on their very limited experience.
UB just has shitty rake (BBJ) and shitty software, but no more bad beats than any other site. Unless you consider super-user account hax0ring a 'bad beat'

Are you a super user? Your answer to that should be the same answer to do I want to play on UB?

As if a super user would bother with anything below 400NL. Besides, now there are people watching like a hawk for anyone outside statistically normal winrates, which is how the super-user accounts were outed in the first place.
The shitty software is enough of a reason for me not to play there.

The 5 Card Draw regulars used to say shit like that all the time.
They play like complete and utter nits, giving up small pots left and right, then get steamed when they come out second best in a big pot that was supposed to get them back into the black.

My summary of UB is 'nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd.'
Likes:
Mini table user interface
Easy check withdrawls
Dislikes:
The main lobby user interface/game listing.
Not heavily travelled for mid stakes sngs ($20 +) At Stars I can pull up a $27 sng and have a seat in literally 2 minutes. At UB it can take up to 10 due to lower traffic.
Hand history sucks.
UB could easily become the best poker site out there if they did a few key things that would attract more players. 1. Improved their user interface, 2. Offer a rake that is lower than any other site. 3. Offer a rakeback and FPP program that is better than any other site. 4. Improve hand history.
The last thing they should be investing in is advertising on WPT or whatever. They need to get an R&D budget increase and have a makeover. Then more people would come, which would in turn attract more people like me who don't want to wait for games.

This isn't a reason to avoid UB. Bad beats and players playing weird, unexpected hands to beat you happen at any site.
The reason to avoid UB is the Absolute Poker scandal (UB is owned by the same company as Absolute), the bonus is hard to earn at microstakes, their rakeback program was made shittier about a year ago, their promotions/player rewards are practically nonexistent for low stakes players, and they charge you $8 for a check withdrawl (check withdrawls are free at Full Tilt and Stars). I don't see any reason for a new/low stakes player to play there and I don't see any incentive for the ballin' high stakes players to take their play over there when they could be racking up VPP/FPP's at Stars toward Supernova Master Chief Elite Monster Balls status.
FWIW I cashed out of UB last month, never to return unless they paid me. There just was no reason to play there anymore.

Re: the bolded part, it didn't get as much attention around here, but UB also had it's own cheating scandal seperate from the AP cheating scandal.
And no I don't expect cheaters would play the low/micro limits. To me it's the reaction of the company in both situations (but especially the UB case) that turns me away.

Tons of good answers here, and most of the problems were touched on. UB has had issues with Costomer service as far as the cheating scandal and other problems. You didn't mention why you wanted to go to UB so giving you options is a little tough.
Here's the synopsis.
UB was caught cheating. Search the scandals on this site. AP and UB both have threads about it.
UB has bad beat tables. Depending on the stakes you play you will find that $25NL (No BBJ) is tougher than some sites because it's full of grinders that won't move up and pay the extra rake, but at $50NL there are tons of gamblers and weaker players trying to win the lottery (BBJ) but the extra rake is a killer. At around $100NL you will find that the BBJ will take about 2-4PTBB off your winrate depending on who you talke to but if you table select there is a ton of fish, and RB/bonuses will make up for some or it.
UB has plenty of bonuses. They have a huge $1100 first deposit bonus and tons of monthly bonuses plus extra ways of making cash as far as points that can be sold and RB, but the bonuses clear very slowly at $100NL and under.
Lastly, the software sucks. It's fast, you can play up to 9 tables, but HH's are still a problem for both PT and HM. Last time I played there you needed to keep the HH window open and it would still miss a ton of hands, but it also saves them into a folder on your computer, but you can't get them from there while playing on the table, the folder is marked as in use.
Any other questions, what were you looking for?

HH problem is solved by using Ultimate History, but rest is very true. thats why I moved away last week. the extra rake on BBJ-tables is absolutely killing my winrate at 100NL, although at 50NL it was very beatable. just go to stars. Even though I got rakeback + bonus at UB I'm still transfering all my money
