How many of you out there have never deposited any of your own money and have been able to parlay your freeroll winnings to this day?

I made 4 $35 deposits sometime last year at Golden Palace. Of course I lost it all, although it did last me about 3 months.

After my lady saw the Telebuy900 charges on the phone bill, I was forced to promise her that I would not spend any more money on poker. But I desperately wanted to play, hmmmm, what to do?

FREE ROLL.........

I battled, and battled, and battled, and built a bank, made a few withdraws, then got busted.

boom, back to the FREE ROLL.............

I have been busted to zero 3 times, and everytime I have come back via the FreeRoll. Sometimes my bank dwindles as well because of lame shit like "mortgages" and insurance. Anyways, I have a firm belief that if you cannot succeed by starting from the ground up in the FREE ROLLS, you are probably not good enough to consistently win at higher limits.

Of course many of you can afford to just make deposits and say "screw the freerolls". But I guarantee you that when you build a bank from absolutely nothing, it seems to mean a whole lot more. It takes so much work that you really respect that bankroll of yours.

I can remember some of the biggest heartbreak matches in my life, and they were only $5 sit n go's. They hurt so bad because I valued that hard earned $5 so much.

Anyways, just curious to see how many other mizers have been able to last on their freeroll winnings? To this day I still stick to the motto that I will never deposit a single penny of my own again.

I've never deposited my own money into poker, started at VCpoker with SNGs top prize was 5c! 2nd got 3c, 3rd got 2c. Then moved up to 4c buyins, then 10c,25c,50c,$1. Then moved to ring games and haven't looked back, finally broke $2000 the other day. Sadly the free and 4c SNG's are no longer available. It took about 6 months to make $50 and another 6 months to make the rest.

Respect to you for building your own bankroll from nothing. You may well value it more. But going that route takes time and a lot of hours at micro limits to build a decent bankroll.

What is your goal in playing poker?

If you want to learn the game or just have fun, that's a fine way to start.

But if you want to make money, then playing $1 SnGs or micro limit games will not do that. Sure they teach you the game, but you may only learn to play well at microlimits not at higher stakes.

FWIW, I deposited $100, built my stack up and then took out the original deposit (and more). So for the last year, I've been playing on my winnings - for free effectively

I understand if you don't have the money or can't put it in because of your promise, then you have no other option. But for those who can afford a higher initial deposit, then I suggest that is the way to go (once you know the basics of the game). After all, if you are playing within your bankroll, you shouldn't be busting your entire stash, and needing to rebuild repeatedly.

Yeah I was broke dog back then. I didn't have a single penny, hence why I was playing free rolls.

I admit it would be tough to go back to micro games after I have built a nice bank.

I'm still glad I battled it out. It taught me alot. I was a rookie poker player a year ago, but after winning about 10 decent MTT with 5 or 6 of them being 500 players or more in my first few months, I realized I might have a shot at building a hefty bank someday.

Gotta admit though, FREE rolls are the sweet. Isn't it hillarious how 3000 people will be playing limit Yahoo poker while at the same time Inter poker is giving away $3000? If they only knew......

PS.. I won that Inter saturday freeroll before. That sure is a nice prize on a freeroll, 6 bills.

I've never deposited. I registered at Royal Vegas and got the free $10. When I registered, there was a tournament called the, "New player freeroll". People who had signed up in the last 7 days could play it once. I knew that this would be the way to start my bankroll. I played in it and lost. I also lost the free $10. So I started reading sites like this and playing play money to try improve my game.

Eventually, I registered a new account from a different house and played that new player freeroll. The people in it were so weak. At the final table I had a 200k chip lead, with only about a million chips in play. I finished 4th and won $87. From then I've been building my bankroll through ring, SnGs and MTTs. A month on, I've just over $1000. I will only ever deposit my profits

I started with an $11 gift from a buddy, which I paid back.

Never got money from a freeroll until last month.
I'm a know-it-all.

No, really.

I have deposited only $50 of my own money.

A person on FTR staked me a little less than two months ago. Since then I have paid him back double what they gave me.....and built up a BR of $1430.

Not too shabby.

I signed up for Royal Vegas Poker. How long does it take to get the $10 the website talks about? It hasn't shown up yet.

I also made an account on Pacific Poker, and am waiting for the free $10. Does anyone know how long that takes?

What websites, aside from the Prima network, have freerolls that allow you to win money, but don't require deposits? To my knowledge Party Poker, and Pokerstars don't. Am I wrong?

Royal Vegas money should be in your account within 24 hours. I have had a few of my customers not get in the 24 hours. They called into to customer service, and it was taken care of.

There are many site with free rolls.

Inter Poker is about the best. All the Prima Poker sites ( Royal Vegas, 7 Sultans etc) have free rolls, but they are maxxed with too many players.
World Poker Exchange is good, and almost nobody plays there.

Also if you have not already, you can get a free $15 bones from 7 Sultans as well.

I know a great site that shows almost every freeroll. I don't want to post it here though because all of their links are affiliate, and I am sure FTR would appreciate you clicking on their links as opposed to some other random site i was about to post.

Just google freeroll, then you find a ton of them. When you do, come back here and sign up for that poker room via the FTR site. Remember almost anytime you sign up at a new site, someone is making a commision off of you. It might as well be someone you know and like like FTR.

Got it? Good.

Thanks for the props.

That's one of our goals with our Calendar. We want to eventually list all the freerolls happening at all the major poker rooms so people can see at-a-glance when the next freeroll is coming up and where.

So ya just go to say AB and make an account but do not deposit money and join one of these freerolls? Might have to try this. I made my first deposit but it will be my only one, so I might have to check out some freerolls. Thanx
