I decided to give Poker Stars a try. I've been logging in the last couple of days to get a feel for the place before I make a deposit. About two or three times out of the last four or five that I've logged in, I've gotten a notice about "newer" software on the server to download. Is this normal? Just wondering what the frequency of "new" software downloads is.

Thanks.
There is always hope.

Fairly stable, they all seem to update once every 2 months or so. they probably had a patch for some bad patch. I'm on cable, so the whole upgrade is usualy done in 30 seconds or so... Stars seemed to update less frequently than party this year. *shrug*

Got the same thing. I haven't been on long enough to know how often they update their software, but, unlike a few others, at least they DO update.

Even with my chincy dial up it doesn't take all that long to download the updates so I just go ahead and do it.

Stars rocks, you should not have any problems at all. Well problems could arise if you like to swim with sharks, but as far as being reputable, you have no problem.

They load up some change a few times a week, seems like to me, or at least check the servers for new software. You can bypass that by using a shortcut for the program itself rather than the updater. Check the main folder-- two large exe programs -- one is the updater and the other is the actual program. Update when you choose.
I'm a know-it-all.

No, really.

Thanks. I was just wondering because it was more than one update in a couple of days. I expected less. I wasn't worried, just curious.

Thanks for the replys.
