fnord strongly advocates skipping 1/2 and going straight to 2/4 at party because of the lighter rake at the higher level.

but when i get a deposit bonus, and have to play x number of raked hands, should i drop back down to 1/2 so it will unlock faster?

well i tried dropping down from $2/$4 to $1/$2 last night so i could unlock my re-deposit bonus faster. i averaged 38.5 raked hands/hr. i think i was only averaging 32 raked hands/hr at $2/$4 so my theory seems to be working.

on an unrelated note, i just looked at my bonus account online and now TWO bonuses are showing up as pending. "BONUSMAR", which is the 20% reload bonus for march, and also "MAR05CASHOUT3" -- what the heck is that?? it says i can get $20 for playing 200 raked hands. ugh, that's a 10X requirement. it's valid from mar 22-29, so there's not much time to unlock it. anyone else get this "MAR05CASHOUT3"?

then looking farther down the page, there is ANOTHER mystery bonus... "MAR05RELEASE" which says it's a 15% deposit bonus valid from mar 22-apr 21. no max amt specified.

where did these come from?

Have you been playing a lot at Party lately? I had a cashout one in January because I was not playing there too much.

I was reading on their site about mystery bonuses. All it really says is that they occassionally offer them. Anyone know what triggers these 'mystery' bonuses and any of the details about them.

more about the "mar05cashout3". they actually put $20 REAL dollars into my account. i can use it in a game. i just can't cash it out unless i play 200 raked hands. so, say my bankroll was $100. it now says $120. but i can only cash out $100. if i grow my bankroll to $200, i can only cash out $180.

i have no idea what caused them to give me this bonus but it is annoying as i can not work off other deposit bonuses until i work off the stupid $20 bonus. i also have an inaccurate bankroll amount which i have to subtract $20 from to get the real number.

on a separate note, playing the $1/$2 i was getting over 40 hands per hour raked. so the bonuses unlocked really really fast. however $1/$2 is notoriously laden with tricky aggressive slowplaying trappers so i ended up losing 4X the bonus amount while fucking around at this level. so i will never do that again.

yeah. I got taht same bonus, but for $50, so I had to play $500 raked hands.

Problem was, I had a time sensitive other bonus that needed to be cleared too, so I ended up having to play a LOT more hands than I had intended to.

Funny when a bonus ends up biting you in the ass, isn't it? :P

Since when was party notoriously laden with tricky aggressive slowplaying trappers. It appears to be true but i remember Fnord posting about the comedy of PP only a few months ago, i think the ring games are as tough as stars now.

just talking bout the 1/2 at party. the 2/4 reverts to normal fishiness for whatever reason.

I play at $1 $2 blinds. seems easier than the $2 $4 blinds to me, but that might be because I play with scared money when I move up to $400 NL.
