I played SnGs in all three of them, PP, Stars, and UB. Which poker room do you guys like the best for your SnG? And why? Probably you'll pick the poker room you win the most, so what makes you favor one poker room over another when playing SnG?

I'm really liking Poker Stars turbo SnGs right now. Lower rake than the norm for SnGs ($1 per $15 vs. $1 per $10). Luck factor is high, but I'm finding that there's a lot of weak-tight bubble play that's exploitable. Rippy would probably eat these up. Aggressive play seems to go over better at Poker Stars in general than at PP or Paradise in that raises are respected more.

Party Poker SnGs are pretty soft, but they don't give you many chips and forget about buying pots early on...so you are more at the mercy of the cards at Party Poker.

I'll vote for Poker Stars turbo SnGs.

I've been hearing a lot about pokerstars Turbo SnGs lately. Seems like many players are moving to turbos from the regular SnGs, i think many of them don't like it though. As you said, you'd have to be very aggressive to fare well at turbos. I know for a fact rippy does eat'em up, he's super aggressive style suits the game i guess. So DrNoChance, you think luck factor plays bigger role at party SnGs than Turbo at stars?

I love the PS two-table turbos, as I've said about 50 times recently. I don't think the luck factor is all that high really, as you still start with twice the chips you do at Party. And the blinds go up faster ... but they're not that fast. You have plenty of time to build your stack up from 1500 before the blinds would be a major factor to even an average stack.

I guess a rock would have to be lucky to win these, as you can't just sit around waiting for the nuts. But typically I finish in the money in these, unless I get an all in bad beat, like the one I just posted, or a flopped straight losing to a boat on the river when I'm all in at the flop, or my flopped two pair with rags in the BB losing to a slowplayed overpair (just completed SB, min bet turn and river, but the blinds were very big now) when I slowplayed the 2 pair until the turn when an ace hit and I raised all in. Guy calls with JJ, and the board paired on the river. But that last one at least had me finish 4th, which was still in the money. All of those were today.

If I get "lucky" enough to avoid the bad beats, I'm in the money nearly every time.

This is how good these turbo 2 table SNGs have been to me. Today was my worst day of Turbo SNGs (in terms of finishes) with two very early exits, a 4th place finish, and a win to end the day. With all 4 at the $15+1 level, that's a net profit of $71. The first place skews it, but even if I just finished 3rd in the last one (forgetting that I had like 99% of the chips when it was down to 3), I'd have made $17, on a bad day.

I can't quite explain it, but I seem to be making it into the money more in these turbo two-table SNGs on PS than I do in single table SNGs on most sites, or at the very least just as often. I guess the starting chip increase and two tables give me more wiggle room to build my stack up so I don't bubble out, and more weak players to build my stack off of now that I think of it. Although I know the passive, tight, easy to read, average SNG players on PokerStars are helping as well.

I'm kind of confirming on PokerStars what I thought a while back ( http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...pic.php?t=1427 ) that I do better against good (not great) players than I do against the average fishy low buy-in SNG players at other sites. This probably would not hold true in ring games due to the big pots that Fish would pay you off on. But as for SNGs, its more about avoiding big losses.

Never tried turbos, so i rather start small. You think the $6 2table turbos have have as many fish as the $5 SnGs do? If everyone's opinion is that you are better off at $15 turbos, i guess that's what i'll do. But forget the rake for now, if $6 and $15, in terms of strategy are the same game, i rather start small until i'm familiar with the game.

I think the luck factor is bigger at Party Poker SnGs simply because you need to show those people a hand to win. It's much tougher to bully fish around than the weak-tight intermediate level players at PS when you don't have the cards.

I'm liking what I'm hearing about the 2 table turbos. I may well have to give those a try.

If by fish you mean weak, passive, predictable players, then yes. There aren't many maniacs or loose players that'd call a big bet on a weak draw, but there are the occasional ones. There only seems to be at max 3 or 4 players with any real level of skill in them, over the two tables.

Just a note though, I definitely reccomend starting with the $6 one over the $15 one. I've probably played in the money half the time in the $15 one (the first 5 or so I couldn't get into the money once, but each time my small bankroll on PS was getting down, I'd go back to the $6 level and finish first or second). In the $6 two table one, I've done that at least 15 times, and I've only not finished in the money twice. Those seem so damn soft to me, and I'm sure they have my highest win rate per hour of any low buyin SNG I've done at any site.

So maybe some would just stick to the $6 level, but with me, after I feel like I'm dominating a level, I feel like I have to move onto the next one. I like being challenged, and the $6 ones haven't provided much of any to me. They're nice after I blow some money ill-advisedly in ring games, though. Gotta stay away from Poker Star ring games.

Great tips michael, thanks.
So i started out with $6 turbos, but i'm also mixing it up with $5 SnG. I'm starting out pretty good, but it's too early to say anything. Hopefully the $6 Turbos will become nonchallenging for me as well 8-)
