Man that is pretty freakin depressing we don't get it. That would add a ton of money for me and I'd get supernova this month. They must have trouble getting UK players to play, I wonder why.

awesomes!

But you only get the extra VPPs for June and July.

If yuo hit SN or a milestone in this time its pretty awesome, otherwise it's not that big a deal.

Wow there is a hell of an uproar on 2+2 about this. That would be pretty sweet if it made pstars extend the offer to other countries. I already bought the 3 bonuses in their store that seem to be available to everyone and are insta credited at .016 per FPP. So equivalent to the $4000 bonus conversion rate.

Correction you keep the VPPs

VPPs are never removed. They will expire Dec 31st, 2009 as always. Thank
you for the email.

That's not exactly a great rate of return. You'd still be better off playing FPP satellites and cashing in the T$. Of course, that takes time, so I guess if you don't have it or don't like playing MTTs, it's at least nice to have an option.

Yeah I just go for all cash bonuses usually. .016 is the best you can ever get on rewards you don't have to invest more time in except for the Porsche which is .02 per fpp. Whats your per fpp rate when you do take the FPP satellite conversion course?

I can only speak personally and I don't play Stars as my main site, but with my last 3000 fpps I got 0.024 per with the 70fpp satties to the Sunday $100 Grand.

I like that idea, but I can think of two immediate problems:

1. The hit your hourly rate takes
2. Your personal skill at satellites

Now stop me if I say something stupid, but I'm assuming you're taking a hit to play these sats (time spent playing sats is time you could be playing a cash game or whatever games you usually play, right?), and I'm assuming your return on your time invested depends on how good you are at these (I'm also assuming you should play differently than you would in a 6m/FR cash game).
I know I'm making a whole load of assumptions here but my question is: Is it worth it for the extra $/FPP?

Sure. The point is that there is potential for a much greater return on your FPPs than these bonuses, or purchased bonuses in general. Whether or not it makes sense to your specific situation, only you can answer.

Disagree. Afaik, most cash game players just purchase bonuses/concierge & don't bother with playing fpp sattys. Grinding those seems like it would be kind of a hassle.

But you have to take into account the time spent grinding the sattys, especially if you're gonna be decreasing the number of tables that you would normally be playing. Like I said above, seems like it would be a hassle.

HiLo
This sounds great at first, but I just worked out what it would mean for me and I don't think it warrants me switching to stars, but maybe I have misunderstood the Stars bonuses?

I would be starting off as a bronze star with virtually no VPPs. I reckon I could earn 20k VPPs in a month and with the added 80k that would make me supernova. By then I would have ~44k FPPs. During June I could earn about 70k FPPs (20k x 3.5) so it would be just over 2 months before I could purchase and clear the $1500 bonus, because it would cost me 100k FPPs to buy it (some time toward the end of June) and 10.5k VPP (another 2 weeks grinding)to clear it?

If that is right it represents a 30% drop in my rakeback or bonus income I currently get. Have I worked it out right?

Sure, I've said it's not for everyone, especially mid to high stakes players. You are taking time away from your normal game and need to have some semblance of skill at SNGs or MTTs. But it's not too tough to figure out a break-even point between your return from the sattys and the opportunity cost of not playing cash, so you can figure out the right thing for a specific indidivual playing small stakes.

Assumptions:
- a $0.02444/fpp rate of return on the 70FPP satties (I'm an average SNG player at best so it's a fair baseline)
- You can 4-table the 70FPPs, completing a minimum of 10/hr.
- You're at least a SilverStar, considering that's what you must be to cash in these Instant Cash bonuses.

Take 3000FPPs, for example.

1) EV for the 70FPP = 0.024444*70 = $1.71
x 10 tables in one hour = $17.19/hr

Using up (10x70)=700FPPs/hr, you can play these for 4.3 hrs

Overall EV = 4.3hrs * $17.19/hr = $73.92 in T-dollars, which you can convert at 97% = $71.70

2) EV for the Instant Cash and Continuing to Grind Cash Instant Bonus = $0.016/FPP * 3000 FPPs = $48 + EV from Cash tables

Difference between EV from the Satties and the Instant Cash = $71.70-$48 = $23.70

Therefore, you need to earn > $23.70 playing cash over the 4.3 hrs it would take you to grind out the satties to make up the difference between the two options. In other words, you have to have an ev of $5.51/hr or more playing cash. That's a laughable return for some, certainly not for others.

Bear in mind the above is specifically in reference to the 70FPP satties. With more than a few thousand FPPs to spend, I certainly wouldn't waste time on the 70FPPs. There are other FPP tourneys to play with a higher entry fee, meaning they would take less time away from cash to grind (but your variance would be higher as well). You can just as easily follow the same math for those games and can figure out how to maximize your return. If you just settle for the fpp store bonuses without much thought though, you might be costing yourself.

Hmm, likewise wonder why they chose UK. Presumably UK players are joining Euro rooms instead of stars. Maybe because freerolls/etc run at bad times for them?

Lol @ everyone else complaining though.
Just playing to improve.

I just sent this email to stars support so cross your fingers it should work out for me.

Hi there,

I was wondering if you could do me a favor and switch my address to a UK one so I can collect the lovely bonus you are offering to UK players. Now between me and you I will not be actually living in the UK at any time but I am willing to eat English muffin's for breakfast and stop brushing my teeth to legitimize my Britishness. This way I will get the entire UK experience along with some juicy FPP's. I trust that this will be taken care shortly so I may start to earn this bonus. If there is anything else you need from me such as witty british banter or a warm cup of tee feel free to let me know.

Just get 20K points and you have supernova
that's paying $1000 to get supernova minus $400 you get in fpps

so I will be paying $5000 in rake to achieve the same minus $1600 for the value of the fpps

so you get the same thing for $600 that I get for $3400
enjoy your free $2800, brits
