Question: I tried to enter a free roll tournament today @ PokerRoom.Com and it told me that I have to have a $ account to register. Wtf? Why do you need a $ account to enter a tournament that doesn't cost $.
Then I tried to deposit $ to take advantage of the full bonus and it wouldn't let me deposit the full amount citing only $250 per week. It's pretty difficult to get the full bonus when they won't let you.

If you win money, they need a verified method of paying you. That would be my guess.

What transaction method are you using?

PokerRoom has this thing where you can set how much you want them to allow you to put into their site on a weekly/monthly basis. I guess this is to be helpful to the people that can't control their spending/losses. I don't know if it has a default setting or not, but maybe check that out.

If that's the case, I guess it's ok so long as you don't have to put money in it.

I didn't know about the feature that Les_worm mentioned. Check that setting. I can't imagine your Visa limits transactions to $250/week.

It must be a VISA thing because my settings have "No Limit" for Monthly, Weekly, 24 Hour Limit. And, after it rejected my Visa deposit, it encouraged me to try another deposit method such as NetTeller that didn't have limits.

I read the fine print and it says under VISA: "Some new account holders may only deposit $250 per week with MasterCard." So, it appears more related to the fact that I am a new account holder, although I've been playing with play money for about a year.
Oh well, I guess I need to find out how long before I'm not considered new.

My guess would be that you aren't new when you deposit real money. At that point you actually mean something to them.
