I've been playing most of my ring games at Poker Stars since I started about 5 months ago. However, I was not very good about always requesting hand histories during this time. Due to all the great info I've read here at FTR about using Poker Tracker to improve your game, I've decided to get it, but was disappointed that'd I'd lose out on alot of the games I'd already played.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I fired off an email to Poker Stars support last night asking them if it was still possible to retrieve old hand histories. About 30 minutes later I got a reply that the support rep had forwarded the request to a supervisor. This morning, I check my inbox and there's a reply with a username and password to log into a download server with 2 zip files (1 for ring games and 1 for tournaments) waiting for me. Needless to say I'm very pleased! Now I can't wait to get home from work so that I can download PT, begin the process of feeding it all that data, and see where I stand.

The message said that you can always request old hand histories from support, so I thought I'd share this info. I know I'd probably have bought PT a couple of months ago if I'd known I could give it every game I'd ever played.

PokerStars definitely has the best support. That's the kind of service we should expect from all poker sites. Thanks for the info.

Does pokerStars have a "clickable" hand history like Party? Do they dump histories to your harddrive automatically (like Party?)

Did you already know the answers to those questions?

No and no. The party hand history setup is optimum, especially for PokerTracker users.

I heard that Stars is going to implement something new for HH's around Thanksgiving but not what it was. Hopefully that's what it'll be.

Those Tournament histories will not be complete for PT. It needs the summaries too. I brewed up a little Q&D VB program to request the tournament histories from the lobby. Support supplied a html that had a list of the tournament numbers so I saved that to a text file and then read that in to do some sendkeys to the lobby. If anyone needs the source for that (if you don't have VB then you may be able to plug the source into vbscript, but I don't really know). Or I can send you an installable exe module, that should work better in fact. Anyway, good luck.

Ben

I emailed PS support about this, a few weeks ago, saying something like "your losing players to Party, because they have this option and you dont". They replied that they are implementing "client-side hand histories" around Thanksgiving. Then we just have to wait for Pat to update PT to work with it.
Is that guy still part of the forum??

I thought that the Party Poker hard drive hand histories weren't compatible with PokerTracker. Or has this been fixed?

They came out with a patch for that. It now works flawlessly.

Can't wait for the PS upgrade..that will be NICE.

A friend of mine, one that had played literally thousands of S&Gs on Stars, sent me a note one day a couple of weeks ago and said:

Quote:
So, after a period of 5 games in a row, that I felt like I got robbed by the river card, I fired off an email to support in a heated fury...lol...the exact email I sent was like this:

"Ok, you've proven it to me. Your site is rigged and there is no way to win. I have no doubt of that now. How can I close my account?"

Here is the reply I got:
Quote:
Hello Brian,

Should you wish to close your account, simply inform us of your request and
we will close your account for you.

Our shuffle is completely random - far more random than you could ever hope
to get in a "brick and mortar" casino. You can see its description at:

http://www.pokerstars.com/security.html

Furthermore, we have submitted our shuffle to two large independent third
party companies for review. You can read the results of their study here:

http://www.pokerstars.com/rng_audit.html

If you would like, I tell you in more detail about our site's procedures,
shuffle and statistics. We totally reject any suggestion that we rig or
otherwise fool around with the random generation of cards. We have dealt
almost one billion hands, and have freely given out hand histories any time
somebody has requested them. Not once has anybody found any indication
that our shuffle is not 100% random.

I extend that offer to you. I would be glad to directly send you all hands
you have played on our site for your own analysis, just say the word.

Best Regards

PokerStars Support Team
I didn't see the above until later! First he sent me:

Quote:
Bill,

I think I have 312,000+ hand history coming from Pokerstars. I'll tell you the whole story when I get it.

Brian
And he did. They sent him links to download 3 zip files with respectively 165725 hand histories, 99348 hand histories, and 46077 hand histories. Needless to say, this was a pretty big bite to swallow, but we managed.

My point here is that Stars WILL go that extra mile to support their customers, so give it a try!

It makes no difference anyway.
