Poker Stars has been down for at least an hour now. It was weird, because all of us at the tournament table could chat, but no cards were being dealt. Then after about 20mins, they told us they were resetting the servers and should be up in 10 min, but it's been close to 30 now. I had a nice chip lead in that tourney, not sure what's going to happen. They said it would be "rolled forward" based on chip count, but I'm not sure what that exactly means.

Normally they reward to bases on chip total.

100$ torny every starts with 1000 chips. You have 5000 and the servers crash you get 500$. I have had this happen twice at Party and this is what has happened both times.

In case you were wondering what Poker Stars does in this situation, here is the email I got. I was the chip leader when it crashed.

PokerStars Tournament #9198235, No Limit Hold'em
Buy-In: $5.00/$0.50
9 players
Total Prize Pool: $45.00
Tournament started - 2005/06/20 - 21:26:00 (ET)

Dear realgenius,

Tournament #9198235 has been cancelled due to technical reasons.

When a tournament is cancelled before players are in the money, we refund
each player their tournament fee, and then divide up the prize pool based
on the following formula:

- 50% of the award pool distributed evenly between remaining players
- 50% of the award pool distributed proportionally according to the chip
count

At the time of cancellation there were 5 player remaining, and your chip
count was 3,430. Total chips in play were 13,500.

Prize pool to be divided equally: $45.00/2 = $22.50
Prize pool to be divided based on chip count: $45.00/2 = $22.50

Your share in money equally divided: $22.50/5 = $4.50
Your share based on chip count: $22.50 x (3,430/13,500) = $5.71
Your entry fee refunded: $0.50
Total money refunded to your account: $10.71

We apologize for the inconvenience.

The PokerStars Team
