I've heard conflicting reports on this, so I was looking for some definitive dicussion from all you sharks.

On one hand bonuses are deducted from your rake and thus take away from your rake back. However I don't think it's too hard to calculate that for anything above 5-7x bonuses, you're paying far more in rake than you're getting back in bonus.

So for example if I get a $100 bonus, but in order to clear it I play 1000 hands. In those 1000 hands if I'm paying 200 dollars in rake, it's still profitable with rakeback, right? Total 200 dollars paid in rake, minus the 100 bonus. So at 30% rb I'd make 130 dollars that month with bonus and rakeback, correct? This is opposed to making 60 dollars just from the rakeback of that original 200.

I'm sure I'm missing something here, but do players who play with RB deals avoid bonuses, or do you still find them profitable?

Please do enlighten me on this issue. Are my calculations off somewhere, or am I missing over an element that changes the logic of this?

Lookin' forward to your replies

Depends on the room. Absolute and Sun allow you to clear bonuses and collect rakeback at the same time.

Yeah, I love the Sun Poker setup. I've been playing there a little as well. But let's suppose we're talking about a room that deducts the bonus from rb.

It does depend on the room. I recommend rooms like SunPoker where they hook you up with both.

Limits, too, are important. I think at 100NL and below it's still worth it to grab the bonus.
