this is a really terrific site!

I've been playing online poker for 2 days since my friend told me about it. He just plays for fun and is losing money. I started by putting $100 into Paradise, and cashed out $178 having extracted their $50 bonus multitabling on 0.25/0.50 limit holdem games.

I'm completely new to poker and all my poker knowledge comes from browsing this site and lowlimitholdem. My bankroll = $178. Can someone please suggest if there are any bonuses available to me if I want to continue 0.25/0.50 limit holdem? Or should I be moving up in stakes?

P.S. I've read Jeffrey's bonus whoring post and a few others, but I'm overwhelmed by all the different options available to me. If someone can offer me some specific advice, I would be very grateful.

Cheers

Nice Job, Salsa.

You don't want to move up in stakes just yet. At the top of the "Beginner's Circle" page is a STICKY about Bankroll. http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...pic.php?t=4971
To play NL hold'em comfortably you want to have at least 20 buy-ins available to you. But you also want to set yourself some limits on how many buyins you are willing to play with in one day or one week. The big thing about poker is variance. If you are short in the BR, one downswing can take you out.

That said...you need to get your BR up. CON has a bonus everyone raves about. Now there you'd have to play blackjack (this is a casino, not a poker room), but could add $200+ to your roll with no risk. Read: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...pic.php?t=7994
Disclaimer: I've not done this yet. Ask eeeee, or boon, or triptanes about it.

Party has some great bonuses too, but they're soooo juicy you don't want to use them up without getting the maximum bonus allowed (20% up to $100 means you need a $500 roll). Also beware: most sites do not have the .02, .05, and .10 tables available at Paradise. Party's minimum NL game is $25 with blinds .10/.25. You are not properly bankrolled for that game yet. Though I'm not saying that game will be much tougher than the .10 games at Paradise.

I might almost recommend staying where you're at for awhile and just winning money straight up there.

Welcome aboard, Salsa. Post more specific questions and we'll get you pointed the right direction.

Welcome, SalsaDude!

Like T said, bankroll management.
Bankroll management will keep your poker attitude straight -- your attitude can make or break your game. Scared money is lost money, and the other extreme is the gambl00r who will pony up stack after stack of chips to keep the rest of us fed. There is a 'tween-nervana that we aspire to, where we undervalue money enough to risk it on a bluff, and overvalue money enough to not throw it away on a pot full of pride. And bankroll management can keep you in the game long enough to actually begin to know what you are doing.
I'm a know-it-all.

No, really.

Thank you so much for the replies!

I am extremely grateful. I obviously still have a lot to learn, but i'm going well. I've taken $40 of the gaming club bonus and the $100 50% first time party match bonus, so now I have $400... and i'll actually be able to get most of the other bonuses and have my 300 BB for 0.5/1 (yes I know, shameful)

Again, thank you very much

P.S. could you clarify the CON situation? I've read the relevant 'bonus whoring' thread; is it u get the $200 bonus right away and you can play with your bonus money and if u lose ur $200 you can still withdraw your original deposit (ala Pacific Poker)?

P.P.S easy T mentioned u need $500 to clear the full partypoker bonus. I was 'offered' a bonus from partypoker of 50% up to $100 using the bonus code REAL$100 and cleared it as i mentioned above so just wanted to share with you guys 'cos it isn't mentioned on the site

Cheers,

That was going to be my suggestion. You sound disciplined so go for the free $200 on CON. Only downside is when you put your $200 IN it's immediate, but to take it OUT it takes a week. But you can take it out "immediately" so you will only be gambling with their money. Once cleared you'll be ready to go whoring w/a real roll.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.

Goal: Just maximize the bonus. Great job hunting down a deal that fit your BR, Salsa! It sounds like you're on your way with a more substantial BR and staying within BR101.

Keep the bonuses coming at Party by signing up for IGMPay ($100) and ePassporte ($50).

Wash, rinse and repeat at Empire and the other skins.
