I usually choose my tables by considering both the players/flop and the pot size. Some poker rooms like, Party Poker, only list pot sizes so I only have that to go by. I use to choose tables with the largest numbers but recently I have started choosing tables with mid-high numbers on the theory that the numbers are delayed and tell you what the table conditions where some time ago. I often find that the tables with the very highest numbers are full of good players by the time I sit down because the bad players just busted out and the other good players swooped in because they are looking for the same thing I am.

First of all, what do you think of my theory?
Second, do any of you know how they come up with those stats on the tables?

I feel ya on the pot sizes at party poker. Sometimes there are games with average pots higher than the buyins. I joined a couple of those, saw everyone had 50-100 bucks at the table and would call me down because they could. I get like this vs small stacks too sometimes...
