In the Spring of 2005 I made several deposits over a period of 2-3 days into my PartyPoker account using IGM-Pay, even after my bank account reached a $0 balance. In the end I ended up depositing $1400 more than I had available, and those deposits were returned by my bank, unpaid. That, along with the $25 fee per returned item left me with $1800 in PartyPoker debt.

I always had planned on paying it off but as a college student I never managed to amass the funds. After early summer last year I have received no correspondence from Pay-Pro or PartyPoker about this debt. So my question is, can Pay-Pro or PartyPoker pursue legal action against me as they are located overseas? Has anyone heard of a similar situation occurring? I read this post but it was closed and didn't really provide me with much insight.

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind. I just e-mailed Pay-Pro and basically asked the blunt question. This was their response:

Quote:
To answer your question about not settling the outstanding balance, I wish to inform you the following. Firstly, we will not allow you to use Party Poker or any of our affiliated web sites in the future. This will be followed up with an escalation to our higher management who will decide on the further course of action which might range from engaging a third party collections firm to retrieve the funds and/or reporting to our credit bureaus, which, I assure will be done with a lot of reluctance. We respect our customers and wish to retain them at any cost and hence request you to clear the outstanding balance with immediate effect so that we do not have to pursue any further action.
I guess I should pay it off and just get it over with

Please, please, pay it off. And please read 'Rilla's guide to BR Management thoroughly, located in the Beginner's section.

Man, I wonder if Stars and Party have any shady "collection methods"... I've heard some messed up stuff about what real vegas casinos do.

had a similar incident with neteller and an online casino. spent a lot more than i had in my bank and after fees owed about 2000. like you, i had planned to pay it off with neteller making me a payment plan, but i never did and ignored their calls, so they sent it to a collections agency, who called me almost daily, until my mom said i didnt live here. then they just put a bag mark on my credit rating.

Well, that doesn't sound like the best idea then... save a few grand now, or never be able to buy a house when you want to?

worst possible thing they can do is send a collection agency and ruin your credit. best possible thing is they do nothing. I'd probably do nothing.

I have $600 in outstanding debt to Neteller. I've had it for about a year now and nothing, as far as I know, as happened to me. Not even an Email or phone call so until they start to pursue me, I'm not going to pay. We'll see once they do.

I truely love what this country has come too, a bunch of fricken idiots with no morals at all. You want to know half the reason everything is more expensive and interest rates are high, is because of morons like you people. Have a little class and pay up for what you are responsible for. I guess it wouldnt bother you if you had stock in Party or Neteller would it? Or if it was a small company you owned and was getting stiffed. I honestly wouldnt mind if they had the death penalty for crap like this, then and only maybe then people would have a little responsiblity for their own action, and stop putting it on others. Yes, I wish they would send "lefty" to break your fricken legs.
Holy crap I cant play against Yoda!!

lol, you make a lot of assumptions about people, given that I doubt you can say one accurate thing about me.

of course he should pay it and be responsible. but he's broke and irresponsible and that's not what he was asking. He's asking if he would get in trouble for not paying it, which is the situation my answer was meant for.

if you wanted to say be responsible and pay it, just say it. instead you give an answer that hardly makes any sense and is just an attempt to try to look down at people.

I am trying to get people to be responsible for what they bring upon themselves, and not make others end up paying it for them. Our society at least in the states, loves this mentality of "oh you were irresponsible we will spread it across everyone, dont worry."

Granted, It may be slightly off the original poster thread.
But do I think there should be punishment, for his irresponsible behavior? YES
Does it sound by his original post that he want to get away with not paying it back? YES
Do I have any idea if hes a good person? I have no idea.

Also I am not looking down at anyone, I am making a statement about the lack of punishment for irresponsible behavior, in today's American society. Do I stand behind every word I have said, you bet.

Golfer is right.. if you have debt, pay it, its simple.

If you're broke, stop playing poker and get a job until you've paid off your debts...

Is $1800 worth a potentially permanent hit to credit? Think about that for a bit.

I, too, am very disheartened by the lack of ethical behavior on this thread. If you are unwilling to pay the debts that you rightfully owe, you are a bad person... period.

Yes seriously... Why do you think Neteller charges an arm and a leg? It's morons that DON'T pay that causes higher rates for people who are decent and DO pay.

I don't mean to preach... but $1800 isn't stealing gum from the register. That is a significant amount of money. Would you walk into compUSA and steal a laptop? A plasma TV?

i own stock in both NTLRF and PYGMF. if they don't come and break your legs, i will. neteller specifically cited bad debts as a drag on their earnings last quarter.

You guys talking about scgolfer being on his high horse will see the big picture someday...or at least I hope you will. If you are going to engage in the adult activity of gaming with real money, then engage in the adult activity of being responsible. Or go back and beg the tooth fairy for more money, whichever you choose....
