Party poker was great becuase of the action that you got. Stars sucked becuase you could raise 3 BB and get the blinds. On party, you could raise 5BB and get 4 callers. Pot bets pot commited weak hands.

Now, with smaller blinds vrs your stack, it's not profitable to defend blinds or give action. You can just sit back and wait for your set, or your rockets, or your flopped straight.

A paradise it ain't.

There will be a honeymooning period. But in time, it'll degrade into a rock garden and you'll play every hand hoping your opponent has AA or some other great second best hand. Becuase AK TPTK isn't throwing all his chips in like he once did.

Partially true but I think half the reason party poker has so many dumb asses is because the marketing campaign since they are the only site besides pacific I have ever seen a commercial for so they have always dominated the other sites in numbers. You would be amazed at the number of players on party that have never heard of most other poker sites and just got on because of a commercial they saw. "hey that looks fun lets do it" In time yes everyone will eventually be educated but I dont think the dumb asses were only because of the blind structure.

No. I agree with Gorilla. they totally fucked up a good thing. Before, a newbie's (not a fish yet) thinking would go "ah, what the hell, it's only like $10 more to call all in. I may as well see his hand". He won't go "ah, what the hell, it's only like $60 more to call all in."

Friggin' A...but now that it's done, it's done. no use crying over spilled milk.

I used to play at the $100 NL, which was $1, $2 blinds.

where do you think the fish will go now? Continue going to $100 NL because that's all they want to lose and they won't care about the blinds? Or they will go to the $200 Nl where the blinds are $1 $2?
I'd be inclined to say the former. If that's so, well dammit...

Im not seeing how you make a whole lot of sense here. If they stay at 100 then u stay at 100 and its cheaper for you to play too and dont tell me the difference between an all in and a fold at a NL 100 table is $1 in a big blind.

There will be a honey-moon period where the general masses still play foolishly wrong. Making these over calls and still valuing weaker hands. But it won't last.

They'll tighten up and they'll fold stronger hands.

They'll degenerate into the weak/tight models that dwell on stars.

Well, not quite. A 4x BB raise is now $4, not $8. And that, to me, makes A HUGE DIFFERENCE. That make more sense?

And yeah, I once again agree with gorilla. Righ tnow, we have people that don't know WHAT in the hell to do with these changed limits, and we have pots that are smaller than average for the buy in. However, because the buy in's now have smaller blinds, these pots are actually nearly double the average for the blind structures.

That make sense? I know I'm not the most coherent of all people. :P

Yeah makes pretty good sense now. What I was thinking is people will generally call any double raise preflop than they originally would have. Say you just raise every hand you were gonna play 1 dollar instead of the 50c minimum. Then it would bring it back up. Of course people will probably get pissed and start reraising you eventually but maybe not. Just a thought. Only applies to limping hands though. If you are a generally loose aggressive player it could screw things up more if thats the strategy that you got to work before. BRING ON THE RELOADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
