yay! i figured that FTR needs a review for paradise, so i'm gonna give my opinions about it.

i recently went there to get their 25% deposit bonus...needless to say, i only cleared 10 bucks of my 50 bucks and i cashed everything out already. the software was good, fast, and stable, but ultimately the players drove me away.

after a really good empire poker experience, paradise was an eye opener. there are many good players here, and that cuts into the profits. the problem is, like most non-party sites, is they have micro limits. this will cut into the fish population as everyone who knows they suck won't play at higher limits.

i played a couple SnGs, and i liked the structure. i haven't tried party's sngs yet, but of the ones i have tried i like paradise the best. prima networks have 1000 chips, the blinds go up faster then other sites. i like this because aggression will get paid of once the blinds go up. pokerstars takes a way too long to play because you start with 1500, and blinds go up very slowly. many people like this because you can exercise your skill more. i don't like playing for more than an hour for sngs, and with only 8 opponents pokerstars still manages to go over an hour all the time. paradise has the 1000 chips, and the slow blinds of pokerstars. you can exercise your skill without taking forever...plus it's slightly better payout than stars because of 10 ppl instead of 9.

i like their software, because of the little animations they do. cards reflect light, and when you win pots the chips slide to you with fire behind them...which is kinda cool. but besides that nothing special. what i don't like is they don't highlight players you have notes on. you have to hover over everyone to find out if you have notes on them.

that's right, i left because i'm a wimp. because i couldn't make any significant money here. actually, i'm down 9 dollars after about 12 hours of play. i only cashed out what i put in because of that $10 bonus.

i started out on paradise, learned the ropes there, and now that ive moved around I am glad i did .. b/c the competition @ party and others seems like a joke to me

Id have to agree with most of this assessment.. being that paradise has a very nice software environment (the best in my opinion, but the comp. isnt as weak..

I'll throw in my 2 cents here. I also started out at Paradise. When I did they didn't have the micro-limits that they have in place now. I did alright but soon busted out my initial $75 deposit. At that point in my online career I wasn't really aware that the players were that much better than anywhere else because I simply hadn't played anywhere else. I ran my intial $75 up to $180 before going on a bad run and losing the whole shebang.

As for the software, I, for one, love it. It is very aesthetically pleasing to me. I like the little quirks like being able to get food/drinks/cigars, etc. and putting them on the table next to you. I like the cards burning when you win a pot. Silly stuff but I like it.

I then went to another site and didn't re-visit Paradise until about 1 1/2 months ago. I still say they have the best SNG layout of anywhere that I've played. It is infinitely better than Party/Empire and a hair better than PokerStars (IMHO). I like the 1000 chip starting point and the blinds are low enough to start out with to allow you to play a few extra hands and perhaps get lucky early. They structure it so that the blinds increase every 10 hands. I personally like this structure better than the every 10/15 minutes structure. Only because the blinds start off low enough and the starting chip count is 1000 is this a good structure for blind increases, however.

With regard to the ring games, I personally have alot of trouble winning consistently at their NL ring games. The competition does seem better than what one would find at Party/Empire or some of the other more fishy sites, but it is beatable. However, I do not mind this as I feel that it helps my game. Albeit, sometimes it can be an expensive lesson, but I feel that it improves my play overall. I have been doing pretty well overall at the limit ring games there. I play mostly 2/4 and 3/6. Again, the competition is good but beatable.

The micro-limits are a nice recent addition. I think Paradise's player base has stalled over the last year or so, so the addition of the micro-limits was an abvious attempt to draw in new blood at a reasonable price for the learning curve.

Their bonuses are not much to write home about. Standard 20%-25% signup bonus. Very infrequent re-deposit bonuses. When they do offer one it is routinely only 10% although they have been 15% or 20% on rare occasion. Bonuses are released in $10 increments for every 100 raked hands played (10x raked hands). This is double the number of required raked hands that are required by places like Party/Empire.

All in all, I enjoy playing at Paradise. I enjoy the software and the competition. Like every other site, I love it when I'm amking money there and I loathe it when I lose there.
