I don't know if there is a better forum for this, so if a mod wants to move it, go ahead. I don't have a Poker Stars account, but I plan on opening one soon. I have a few questions:

1) Is there any benefit to opening an account through the FTR referral page?

2) Are there player referral bonuses? If there are, and someone wants to refer me to get this Bonus, just tell me what information you need from me to refer me.

3) Anyone know of any hidden (or not-so-hidden) bonuses/opportunities related to opening a new PokerStars account that I should know about?

1) I don't think for you, but it looks good for FTR
2) I don't think so
3) There is (was) a 100% 50$ bonus. Not hidden at all.

Everything they do is pretty straight forward

My first 1000 or so hands at pokerstars:

Maybe the middle of the night before thanksgiving day isn't the best time to find juicy games....

(I can't blame it just on bad timing though; that steep drop in the middle was mostly caused by a series of bad beats and missed draws, but still, I probably didn't choose a good time to play).

EST? It's not that bad during that time I would imagine? Maybe midnight PST would have been.

Well it was more like 4am EST.

But I was playing again last night at the same time and fared much better, so maybe it was just bad luck, and not timing.

Actually, it was 6-max limit, but I am mostly playing the ring games just to clear the bonus. I want to focus on tournament play, and I hear that PokerStars offers a lot of tournament variety. That's the main reason I signed up on PokerStars.

Though after playing some more limit, PokerStars doesn't seem that bad (in terms of profitibility). The caliber of limit ring play really isn't much better than PartyPoker was. It's a little tighter, less manical, but still very beatable (and with a better rake structure too).
