Hi guys, I'm just wondering I actually just got an online poker account at paradise poker and put in $50. I'm feeling comfy right now I'm up about $10, well 35 if you include the bonus. anyways im wondering 2 questions.
1. Is paradise poker the best place for my buy in?
2. What do you think has the easier competition
a. 1 on 1
b. $10 ring games
c. $10 or $5 single table tourneys
d. MTT's

1) I have never played at paradise, so I can't say.
2) what did you play live? tourney or ring?
if ring, stay with ring
if tourney
a) you have to win 6 out of 10 to show a profit
c) otherwise known as a Sit 'n Go or SnG. Very profitable
d) lots of variance. Can be profitable
$60 is not enough for $10 SnG's, but it's enough for $5.

I'd suggest you go read "bankroll management" in the Beginners Section to get a good grasp on how much cash you should be willing to front font for a peticular game. However, I can tell you that $50 is probably not going to get it done. For example, you want a minimum of $150 if you are planning on playing 10NL. Knowing about Bankrolling is so extremely important when starting out, especially online. It will prevent you from losing all your money.
In answer to your question, id say that 10NL is going to be ultra soft(I'd guess anyway, Ive never played stakes that low, and NL25 is ultra soft so....) as will very low buyin sngs. But like the other guy said, play what you are good at. If you played 10 Ring in real life, definately stick with that, at least until you start building a good bankroll..

I started out with $5 SnGs because that gave me a chance to learn to bet and read bets using a lot of chips that don't translate into real money. Gives you a better feel for betting online. Every once in a while when I had time I would play a large MTT with a $5 just for the hell of it. The few you win boosts your bankroll huge.
Now I'm spending a lot more time dabbling in ring games as they are the most profitable if you can do well in them I find. And every once in a while I'll play a 2-3 table SnG to shake things up.

If you are someone who has a solid job, and thus if you lost your 50$ you can rebuy. Then whatever stakes you are comfortable playing are the stakes you should play. If 50$ is all you are investing, then you should go read the bankroll management thread.
Most online sites are fishy at the low limits.

No, dont think about rebuying. Deposit enough to cover varaince the first time and be done with it. Having to rebuy into a site is a very bad idea, IMO. It's just the wrong mindest.
Starting with SNGs is a good idea. You can get alot of expirence without risking that much money. Eventually you should work your way up to NL ring play though.

It is only the wrong mindset if you make it your mindset. News flash, some players just want to play online for fun, and don't care ever to move above the low stakes, or just doesn't care to play much period. If he is this type of player he might only play a few hundred hands per week. This type of player needs to play at the stakes that are comfortable to him or her.

1.) Paradise is good for starting out. They have some of the smallest micro-limit tables out there...down to $2NL with .01/.02 blinds.
2.) As someone else said, stick with what you know from offline play.
d). Last time I checked, Paradise had a "Big Buck" MTT everyday at 4:00. $1.00 buy in! A great way to play MTT on your BR. Usually 1,000 + players. Winning it will still net you $80-100.
