I'm almost certainly going w/ Merge, but possibly w/ Cake. Either way, can anyone chime in on what rakeback affiliate is reputable & does a seamless job of getting the funds into your actual account? (I can look up the specific offers on their sites, though they are are almost identical anyway). Here are the ones I've head good things about:
- RakeTheRake.com
- Rakeback.com
- TheNuts.com
- RakeBrain.com
- RakebackNation.com
- Rakeback.org
- Hand4Hand.com
Are all these legit/reliable, etc.? Any you had good or bad experiences with. Want to just pick one soon, deposit (if I can ) and start playing already w/ the small amount I'm willing to put online. Thanks.

RaketheRake has been real good to me. Make sure whoever you go to you get someone to refer you to any of the sites. It won't cost you anything but makes the site give up a couple more points to the referrer.

how safe do you think your funds will be? stars and tilt had the reserves to make it though the confiscated money , do you think the smaller networks are as robust. especially with the cash out problems reported at merge over christmas and skins leaving cake. When the DOJ act against the smaller roomsyou can hardly say that you werent warned.

Keith, you're obv right on all counts, however there are plenty of us in the states that just want to continue playing and learning. I thought I'd try the play money tables on stars just for the sake of getting in some hands thinking I'd get some practice in at least. @ 5/10 I was up 35,000 within 1/2 an hour and realized that I was getting zero educational value out of it (if only the microstakes we're as easy ).
Anyway, the point is that it may be worth it to some of us to invest a small amount just to keep the ball rolling, as long as we're aware of the dangers and understand that the gamble isn't in actually playing the game but in actually losing the money due to Fed actions.
I'll be depositing (probably on merge) when (if) I get my funds back from Stars. I'll do it understanding the risks and I'll be the first one to bitchslap anyone whining about losing their money if it all comes crashing down.

Yea, it's fine to deposit with the knowledge that you may never get the money back but want to play. Just keep trying to keep the money at a minimum. If you have a way to get teh money on the site, run a small amount of BI's and just withdraw every time you get to an amount you don't feel safe keeping on the site.
For me I have no worries as a Canadian, but if I was US I would do this anyway to keep playing, all the while knowing I have a job and losing $300-$500 in the next year compared to playing $25NL or $50NL and work on my game in case the Gov't has a change of heart or feels it in their pocket books enough to allow you back. There is a small chance of a new pokerboom to come, albeit small, that it may be worth staying ready. Keep in mind, $50NL now is the $5/$10 of the old party days.

I hear what you're saying, Keith, but as supahaole was saying, I'm not one of those people who rely on playing for anything (at least at this point) but recreation, and ultimately I'm ok if I lose a deposit of like $50-$100 down the road if things go south for Merge as well. As someone who's trying to learn more about the game, who needs practice, needs to review my hands, etc., I need something a little more challenging than the play money tables which truly have zero educational value since aren't go to allow for that as they have no huds, you can't import HH's, no one cares at all about their imaginary chips. At this point in my poker "career" I need to play some hands, analyze my game, and play against people who at least care a tiny bit about strategy ... even if it is for me most of the time just microstake competition.
That being said, I definitely intend to withdraw often so I'm not suck the way a lot of people are right now. Cheers.

Rakeback deals are typically administered by a third party (such as poker room affiliates or dedicated rakeback sites) so you'll need to sign up for
