Do you guys play limit or no limit ring games online and why?
I am just wondering for informational purposes from limit to no limit. In no limit you can get pushed around by a bigger cashed stack and such.
Please chime in
thanks

both have their pros and cons. i used to play NL ring exclusively, now i only play fixed ring and NL sngs.
don't worry about the big stacks, they'll bully you at the wrong time and that's when you double up.
the reason i stopped playing NL ring is because i didn't like the swings. for me, NL had a much higher variance than fixed. it's true you can win more in NL, but you can lose too, and i didn't like that. AA gets cracked 20% of the time all in preflop. let's say you buy in for 25 bucks, and double to 50. some big stack with 100 puts you all in preflop, you call. he turns over KQs or something, and he hits the flush. bam you just lost everything. sure you had the best of it, but it's something like this that will put you on tilt, make you reload, and lose even more money.
my advice is to try everything. you'll find something you like. it's a common misconception that you can't make a lotta money at fixed, as i first thought. i proved myself wrong. here's my thread of some of my big scores:

If your problem with NL is the scenario of pumping up to 50 then dumping it all the only bigger stack, you could always leave the table and sit down again between hands and move your winnings to safety. I've seen it done, i don't like it but it's a good system.

Are you still allowed to leave a table and re-sit with less money? I thought they changed it.. maybe not.
I used to play strictly NL tourneys and ring games. Since then I've switched to limit ring games and NL tourneys. Mostly though its limit ring games for me now.

My first three months playing i didnt know what to do.
I tried my luck on the 5+1 sngs at party (would only put in $50....what a newb). I would switch from NL, to PL, to just Limit.
It turns out it didnt matter which way i played them, i just lost. I tried playing the .50/1 limit games, lost there too.
If you are new to the game the best thing to do is lose as little as possible by playing the most. Find cheap SNGs somewhere and just have at it. Once I got my tournament strategy down I moved up to higher limits, which eventually took me back to empire and I did really well playing a 50 pack of $10 sngs, placing ITM 50%. I then played another 50, and was ITM 20% and lost my roll. I gave up tournament playing and decided I think i can do better in limit.
I moved to Poker Stars and played their .25/.50 limit games, 2 tables, and quickly made money. Learning how to play tournament style teaches you the effects of playing good cards as opposed to chasing bad ones. I went from a $50 buy in at poker stars to $180 in probably 3000 hands, averaging ~4BB/100 hands. I learned to play Tight Aggressive and made money.
Recently I moved up to the $1/$2 Limit at Interpoker, everyone there plays tight passive, only reraising with the nuts. You're raises get respected for the most part and you make your money off the occasional fish or nut hand. I've basically taking Fnord's class on how to play LHE, and i've yet to read any books (book = bad).
I find that the swings in LHE dont occur as much as they do in tournament Holdem, where one bad hand could cost you the entire tournament. I find I take bad beats much better playing LHE than Tournaments or even NL.
I played NL a little bit, I really enjoyed the fact you can triple up in just a couple hours, but i've also gone on tilt much easier there and you can lose a lot too.
If you have patience try LHE, if you have patience and strategy, try Tournaments, if you like to be agressive then try NL.

LIMIT!
I dabbled in NL for a month but I just don't like it as much. I'm better at limit. I've studied much more for limit and I have much more experience. Most importantly, I make much more money! Love those PP fish.

I personally enjoy both games, but I like limit for making money better. It seems that many fish tend to go to the limit tables because they feel more comfortable than if they sat NL, but then they go and chase all day long and pay me off. I mostly play B+M up in Atlantic City, and that has been my experience.
I also feel that if I happen to make a mistake---and yes, it does happen occasionally 8-) ----it will only cost me a few BB in limit, whereas in NL it could cost me my entire stack. And god forbid I get outplayed (but we all know that would never happen, lol) It could crush all my profits for the day/week/whatever.
I definitely enjoy the challenge of NL more and try to play when I can, but for the $$---- limit is the way to go...................here fishy, fishy, fishy

I've been playing about 90% Limit these days. I play 2/4 and 3/6. If I play a SNG it is always NL. The only other NL I am playing right now is at InterPoker and that is because I am clearing a bonus.
I tend to waffle back and forth but for now I am primarily limit.

I play limit cash games and NL SNG's and sometimes MTT's. I just don't have the heart to push my entire stack on a hand that is not the nuts in a cash game. For the NL cash game players I'm sure it is nice when you double up your stack...I imagine that is quite an adrenaline rush.
I also am a little concerned with what could happen if I go on tilt while at a NL table. With limit, the tilt can be slow enough for you to realize what is going on and escape with some of your stack. NL, one click of the mouse and it's all gone.
I love NL tourney play on the other hand.
At PokerStars you can't get up from a table and sit back down again with less until 30 minutes have elapsed. The Prima network is the same way. Not sure about Party.

What a 180 this place has made. I can remember at the beginning of the summer a fairly heated debate surfaced regarding Limit vs NL and the majority of folks here, with the exception of Fnord and a couple others far favored NL poker.
Interesting how things change.
I'm a SNG whore so I can't really comment on the ring game thing.

I'm very seriously considering making the same switch. I'd still stay with NL tourneys for sure, but I'm thinking I might really prefer limit ring games. I can play a very solid NL ring game for most of a session, only to lose an entire session's profit on one stupid mistake. I realize that many people feel that the overall variance is greater in limit than in no limit because of the chasers, and I can live with that. It would just be nice to have the damage done by any one single mistake lessened. I've still got a bit too much calling station in me. I play tight, and then sometimes have trouble letting go of the few hands I see a flop with. It's getting better, October has been far better than the complete mess September was (Sept. was my second losing month ever and first ever loser where I played a significant amount of hours).
I'll have to order SSH and give it a read.
