Wow, talk about a suckout BAD beat. You can't even call it a blind special, cause the flop didn't even give him two to a flush. Were you playing Rippy or something?

He called an $8 raise to his SB with 6Ts, Raised $15 on the flop with middle pair and a runner, runner flush draw and then called $20 more on a re-raise on the flop. He called a $35 bet on the turn with still only middle pair and a flush draw. Ridiculous.

Golfer, I'm with you. That's a bad beat no matter how you slice it. AND... that may be one of the worst played hands by a plyer that I have ever seen. You didn't deserve that fate.

scgolfer - I just noticed that you said that that happened to you while trying to clear your bonus on Empire. I played for 4 hours last night starting to clear my $500 Empire bonus. I got rivered more times last night than I have the entire month. And this has been my worst month to date!

I'll admit that when that starts happening I get in a bad frame of mind and start thinking along the conspiracy theory lines myself. After 3 hours and 45 minutes of playing I was down $125 trying to clear my bonus.

Suddenly on the $3/$6 table that I was playing (I was playing 3 $25 NL tables and I substituted the 3/6 table later in the evening for one of the $25 NL tables after about 3 hours) I finish the night winning 3 of 5 hands for $53.50, $57 and $70 respectively to end the night a grand total of $2.10 down.

I quickly left after getting back to essentially even. But, how ridiculous it was to play that long and then within my last 5 hands recover everything that I lost. I'm glad, but that was frustrating beyond words. What an f'n grind. The positive thing is that I only lost $2 and I played 475 raked hands. I played 620 total hands. That jives with what I thought. I figured about 75% of the total hands would be raked.

Cuopled with my horrid September and the fact that I was trying to clear that huge bonus, how could you not think, if even just for a brief time, that it is fixed? I can't believe that scgolfer and I are the only ones that have felt that way occasionally.

That being said, I do not think that it is fixed but I can't keep myself from those thoughts periodically.

People get sucked out in rl too. It's not rigged, it's just poker. I think because it is possible to play so many more hands in the same amount of time, especially if you're playing more than one table, the suck-outs just seem to come more often.

I know I have a tendency to mentally skip over all the times I go in as a favorite and win, and focus on the times I lose. I'll sit there and think "man, that guy just rivered that flush on me and I'm still up. I should be up X more dollars." But really, if that's the 5th time I've gone in against a flush draw and his is the first one to hit, then things are just working out like they're supposed to. I've dumped those wins from my memory because I was "supposed" to win, but they still happened.

That hand is an extreme example, but I'm guessing there have been times where you won a hand like that and said "what the f was that guy even doing in that hand?" but you don't think too hard about it, you just take the cash, because you're the better player. This guy got one on you, but in the long run, keep making the right decisions and you'll be ok. Online or not.

Remember Empire is just Party and I've never had any problem clearing a bonus at either, bad beats suck but they happen a lot. That's what happens when you are always getting your money in with the best hand, you get outdrawn.
