Sounds exciting. Also sounds low priced to me for all the hassle and loss of goodwill.
Find out how much you would pay someone else to move your site to another URL (while you watch TV.) Get at least that much $ from him. Do the changeover yourself if you want, but he probably pays programmers annually and by the job; you should have the same option.
Tell him you'll keep the cleanedup site with a redirect for your newsletter, and an affiliate deal for traffic from that site, for a price.
If you (or he) are bent on selling the site (or buying), insist on a 12 month banner sized redirect to your new site remain at the top of the page. And your new True Poker affiliate banner right under that, forever.
I figure the affiliate cash will add up to more over time than the flat $2000, and you won't resent the switchover work as much if you are reimbursed for it's value. Your customer goodwill that is tied up in your current URL can be recouped through the redirect banner.
Just a notion.
