I'm hoping that I have 10 people say they would have called, but I don't think thats happening. Im playing $25NL at Party today, 6 max and table just got full. I have 6,9 diamonds on the button - I limp to see flop - Flop is 9,4,A rainbow. Checked around to me so I bet $1 which is called by 2 others - Turn card is the 6 still no flush possible. So with 2 pair and no flush and I can't see how anyone is drawing at a straight, I bet $4 on the turn and get called by only 1 player. River is a 5. (Board is now 9,4,A,6,5). The guy bets the rest of his stack $19.40. I'm sitting with 6's and 9's which in my opinion is a strong hand at 6 max - I thought he had a big Ace which he was slowplaying (but does that even make sense? If he had big Ace would he let me initiate all the betting?) - So I look at the board and put him on an TPTK or a total bluff - I call to find out the 5 gave him a straight (He held 7,8) - He hit an open ender on the turn, so I don't blame him - I try to do the same thing sometimes - Draw at the nuts if I think someone will pay me off huge on the river -
I've been running hot this week and the huge bet on the river just didn't add up for me, so I called - Would you most likely just fold here? I guess I only invested $5.25 so I coulda just let the 2 pair go - I just see SO many players overplay marginal hands at this level (although they are usually short stacks and that makes it an easier call). Should I just fold unless I had a real read on the player? My only read on him was the he bought in for full amount and that is often a sign of some poker know how (TONS of short stacks at the NL25's) - At a full table I woulda most likely folded - At 6 max tables though I have a hard time folding decent hands (2pr at 6 max is decent, IMO - not great, but good). I told the guy good bet - When he bet so big I am guessing he wanted me to think it was a bluff - I didn't think it was a bluff, I called hoping I was good - Is that a good enough reason to call big bets?

Move this to NL Holdem HH's. Also, copy and paste Hand Histories (using the FTR converter of course) - it makes it a lot easier to read.
He probably wouldn't have a big ace if he let you limp in with 69d. My take: at these limits, most players are calling stations, and when they make a strong move like that, watch out! Some people might be dumb enough to make that move with A + weak kicker, but most of the time either
1) he was slowplaying a set
2) he spiked his kicker with an A
3) He's a total fish and hit whatever he was drawing at.
If you've only got 5.25 in the pot, I would not bother calling $20 more in this situation. (3 to straight on board, flat calling all the way to river, big raise on the end).

Easy fold, could be slow playing a set. Possible straights just fold.
