Hi all,
I used to play at PartyPoker, but switched to PokerStars when US players were banned in the middle of October. I was pleased to realize the competition was easier than on Partypoker. I could even instantly move up from NL50 to NL100, making a healthy profit. But in the beginning of december (after some 13k hands or so) i experienced a big downswing. Nothing strange with that (those things happen in poker, of course) but it lasted a lot longer than any of my previous ones. Since then I'm down some 700$ over 10k hands. (Graph below)
Of course I ave to think about what the cause is, could it be:
1. Normal variance?
2. That I play worse, or am on some kind of long term tilt?
3. That the competition actually has gotten worse?
Now I more and more often get caught in tricky situations at the tables, even at 50NL (I recently moved down again). Also I feel the opponents get tighter and read me a lot better than before (i have no stats on the tightness, I'm afraid). I don't know if this has to do with the opposition, or if it just me.
I would very much appreciate if any of you cunning guys could tell me what you think about this. I've lost a lot of my previous poker confidence (and quite a lot of my bank roll as well...). Have any of you experienced something similar, or do you have any tips on how I could get back on track?

I guess you mean I shouldnt worry?
Still I have a feeling that people play tighter and less predictable. I rarely see anyone stack off with KK, QQ or even JJ preflop which would happen quite often before (preferably against my aces :P ), people seem to play more aggressive against c-bets (even at NL50), less people call down a PFR with a dominated ace (AQ, AJ or even Ax), and so on.
But then again, I'm not really sure. It could be all in my mind.

*bump*
Any other opinions on the sharkiness at Stars?
I took a break from ring there because it got so bad for me. Granted I haven't broken down my play, but after 30k hands things were looking pretty bad.

I think 100NL is pretty hard...had to move down myself. You run into a lot of straight up rocks, quite a few hardcore multitablers, and fewer fish.

I've had trouble at 50NL as well. Just too many rocks and nut campers, IMO. E.g., the 2nd nuts loses big pots a lot for me.
I haven't mastered the LAG game yet, but I think if/when I can, it could be pretty profitable here.

i found the 100nl game tougher than most other sites but it still has lots of areas where it can be exploited.
Saying that the 200nl game isnt very tough compared to some ive seen, dunno about 400nl yet...
